Besides me?

I just came in from the hot tub to get another beer, so I'm definitely in my normal pre-season mode.

Me. I work, that's it. I've never had issues with being ready to ski.

am I dreaming?

tonight as usual I watched the sawx...after the game I went downstairs to retreive the golf clubs for tomorrows battle with my mind. I passed by the wall of ski's in the basement, some of which are 205, 208 etc...then I went upstairs and peeked at the 168's hidden from the budget police in the closet waiting for the snow and I wondered....

are these little things really going to work? what do I really do with these things....??? am I dreaming??

do short ski's still suck???

I never do anything. That is why they invented Skins, so lazy buggers like me could ski to get fit and not get the fatigue and soreness.

I did buy some new skis, I guess that's preparing for the new season.

Skins? As in climbing skins?

er well

I've been doing nothing........ er well, at least since a little edge work last night, some ptexing the night before, and repeatedly taking my unmounted bindings out of the box to look at them.

www.skins.com.au are the secret weapon! First day's skiing can be all day at full tilt and you just get ordinary tiredness, not lactic acid, the shakes, exhaustion and then days of aching legs. They are great for young people, but for oldies and athletes, they are priceless.

now I need a nap so I can dream about skiing.

Is that doing nothing, or something?

Ummmmm, I moved to Summit County...that count?
Other than being on my feet all day at work and carrying around a heavy bag of binders, all I do is bike about an hour or two on weekends. I'm out of shape; a 1/2 hour of standing on the pedals leaves me dizzy and out of breath. Forget about matching breathing to strokes! All I can manage is a quick inhale, a pressured hold for a moment and a powered slow exhale. Maybe if things go right, I'll squeeze in more biking...Maybe I'll try to get 8hrs sleep....Maybe not.

I never get into shape for skiing. I look forward to my legs screaming in pain half way down the first run. There's nothing better than driving home and not being able to get out of your car.

I'm having a hard time getting psyched for the season. Nothing in the news about this year's equipment has me wanting new gear. Our local weather has turned fall-like, and I did a ride through some snow at elevation last weekend, but I'm still in bike mode. which means, as far as ski season goes,

I'm with Phil. NOTHING.

envy alert!

I have no hot tub.

aren't you out there pushing the f-ballers in the Indian Summer heat, Coach?

Just had my dynastar legend 8000's mounted saturday, cant wait till I get to mount them babies
Workin out and running like a fool to get ready for ski season, strong muscles= less injuries and bigger air
post #20 of 74
Does looking at airfares to Utah count?

I'm still very much in bike mode. The leaves are starting to turn and the weather is getting a bit cooler, so it's primo bike season for me. I love the smell of the dead leaves in the air. I'd rather "enjoy" it than hurry it along to get to snow.

Yep. The team's 3-0. We played in 92 degree heat this past Sat. So far the weather has been tougher than the opponents.

I would've done nothing until I had to order 3 new ski movies. I figure the more good ski movies I watch the better skiier I will become. So I got the popcorn ready!

What did you order? If you got waiting game the movie I'd like to hear how it was. Gonna go with that one I think. Is it out yet? The trailer has some absolutely sick ass lines in it!!!!!!

Don't forget the extra salt and (real) butter. Oh, and pass the Ben & Jerry's while you are at it.

Whatever you do don't get "In search of Speed" almost no skiing. Why make a movie about Ralves and Miller and put the skiing in the "extras" section of the DVD! Sorry to hijack!

Never stopped training. Have been riding bike, weight training and walking with dog a few miles a day. Once weather starts to cool off (still in mid 80's) I will begin to run the trails. Started on the slide board this weekend, inner thighs and glutes are killing me! Must work on cardio

how can you let them get away with nothing but winning? that won't build any character!

well done. do you have championship hopes for this season?

We have the ability to win it all, but there are some other good teams out there as well so we'll see. Actually the team we beat the first game probably has the best individual talent, but they don't play well as a team. If they come together, they'll be tough come play-off time.

As to winning, most people don't buy this, but I never even mention winning to my teams. I'm a hard ass who dwells on the little things like fundamentals, execution, and game prep. I believe if you take care of these things, positive outcomes occur. I don't scout other teams or prepare for other teams. Our total focus is on what we do. I let the other teams worry about preparing for us.

I ordered Warren Millers, Storm, Hot Dog and Aspen Extreme. Recieved Hot Dog yesterday. Not a lot of skiing but lots of anatomy in a state of undress. Just went for dvd's off of amazon. Don't remember why I chose Hot Dog, cheap I think! And Squaw.:
