He parses and disects arguments, not grammar and spelling.

he stands on his own and is.

hmmm. well, I don't think so, Lucky. tell me more, maybe I'll be able to either 'fess up or just deny it flatly. I've never heard of Claire/Clear Profit. I'm gonna go Googling right now. might be back later to edit this post.

EDIT: okay, I'm back and this was all I found:

Elizabeth Clare Profit

is that what you're talking about?

I also like Gonzo's posts--acceptable or unacceptable.

I'd never say that stuff he says, but I don't have any problem with him saying it. He sounds pretty accountable to me.

Besides, I skied with him. He's my friend. And Bonni, gonzette--the same!

Oooh, ow, oooh! Blindly jumping to defend others, imposing my will.: :
I guess I don't stand on my own, either.
I'm glad you know my intentions so well.

Thank you, Weems.

She started a community down near Yellowstone, and defended her right to shoot buffalo from the park which came onto her property, due the fear they'd spread brucillosis (sp?) to her cattle, at the time there was no evidence of this happening and I'm not sure if there is today, but I can understand being worried about it. However many new agey spiritualists criticised her as it didn't seem consistant with the image of high and holy she marketed herself as.

aha.

I don't think I'd be too concerned about Bison giving brucellosis to my cattle. maybe that's my ignorance, the danger of having biology training (which makes me suspicious of her fear of cross-species infections; I don't fear catching diseases from my pets) and no cattle raising experience (which might disprove/negate my suspicion).

sounds to me like she just wanted to kill some Bison. :

Wasn't there some other scandal with her and the Church Universal and Triumphant (CUT)? It was years ago......couldn't find anything on it.

I dunno. Never heard of CUT, but I wouldn't be surprised. From what I heard of her she seemed like an image hungry cult leader who fancied herself a prophet. When one indulges in their own glory, corruption often follows in the shadows.

As I recall, Liz Clare Prophet had a baby at 60+ and soon after was revealed to have Alzheimer's, of all ironies.

IIRC, they were planning to tap into some geothermal resources to heat their ranch, run some greenhouses, or something else along those lines. I think the uproar was based on concerns that the Church's actions would disrupt the underground plumbing that feeds Mammoth Hot Springs and other geothermal features at the northern edge of Yellowstone.

Didn't 60 Minutes do a segment on the Church Universal and Triumpant many moons ago? I have this vague memory of seeing Elizabeth Clare Prophet chanting in a church service saying stuff like "Atoms Electrons..." weird hypnotic cultish stuff. I remember thinking that she was sorta hot, in a hypnotic, cultish, Emma-Peel take-charge kinda way

She's a loony. Anyone think her last name is the one she was born with or married into? Prophet........too convenient. My last name should be Menopausal-Curmudgeonette.

Gonz's posts are best when read sans pants. Any questions?

Mark
The world of wc law is getting to you, maddog. Yes, of COURSE you raise questions. What's between you and Gonz that gets your pants off?
Gonz, just kidding. Liz owned quite a few of the businesses and substantial land in Paradise Valley at one point. Her flock donated much of their earnings and labor to live under her countenance. She fell out of favor with the law when stories surfaced about stockpiled weapons. I'm not sure if she is in Montana at this time.

Maybe, but she's six feet under if she is. She died.
