I am not a "tattler" and I believe that the person in question will suffer plenty for having "said" those things to me, and that it's unnecessary to expose him/her for having "said" them. not only that, I'm not the tattler's pawn.

but thank you, Laurie, for your sentiments.

You Know What....I'm Sick and Tired of All the Sniping In Here....

Let's focus on the important issue:

THE YANKEES are only a game and a half back.

Sox are fading big time.

And ryan still owes me a burger.

Does anyone really care about baseball on this forum? I liked it when I played little league.......

but I'm wrong sometimes. sort of like you were in assuming that I apologized only because I was "forced to."

I think it's sad when a heartfelt sincere apology is rejected. It says more about the rejecter, I guess.
Someone once thought I was forced to apologize as well one time, definately reflects their character with rude cocky pm responses, (u know who u are) but oh well. Who really cares anyways. 90% of the people on here will never really meet and ski. I know I wont; been running with the same crew for years! Always will! Not saying its ok to be a dick either; that goes for me to. But Gonzo is on the money saying, "the madness happens in peoples minds off the screen", more so if having a bad day! Then wham, harsh words back and forth till one gives up and apoilogizes.(sincerely) It would make me mad and I would give a defensive response to if someone was being a prick and saying I am only apologizing due to harsh words from an admin etc... does not mean it was not sincere. Right on Finndog, i'm on a few ignore lists to, I'm sure But hell at the least leaves are falling off trees in my yard and all around my house. Now thats what i'm talking about; w00t! w00t!

Go double or nothing on the outcome of the AL East.

Threats are silly.

Banter is entertaining.

Vulgarity is boring.

And bitterness kill the one who harbors it.

I find subtle intellect far more engaging than raw flaming. But, that is one man's opinion. My primary concern in all of this is that more civilized new members who could contribute much to our community might be put off by the quasi-profanity and sharply toned attacks. I would rather see growth than reduction, and I am concerned about it. I have found myself less and less likely to view--much less participate in--various threads around here, limiting myself to particular topics and areas of the site. I may be alone in this. But, I doubt it.

Gonz, I think you're a tremendous person. I also think that you could effect greater results with a more effective application of your broad rhetorical skills with less reliance on shock-and-awe. But, that's me.

ssh and other like thinkers,

I truly mean no disrespect here (although some will seek and find it), but if you are calling for him to 'tone it down', might it also be acceptable, as long as we are trying to be All Vanilla, to ask the boring posters to Tabasco Up?

I don't want to change anyone, no matter what they're like, but it seems that some would like the All Vanilla to prevail. Can't we all be Neapolitan, and enjoy the variety?

Bonni,

Steve's post is heartfelt and well thought out. Certainly the tone of some posts scares away newbies....some of it almost scared away me. I truly think if all do as I suggest in my above post...just take a couple of minutes to walk away before flaming...90% of this crap goes away. A couple of minutes to think it out changes my mind. It also forces me to read again the words which have upset me. Often I find I had not been understanding the intent clearly. Remember the spoken word is hard to misinterpret while the written word is often taken the wrong way. I further firmly believe if Gonz and SMJ shared a chair together they would be friends at the end of the ride...the written word can be hurtful...

now as for the "maggots" that's another story....

think about it and give it a try...it really works for me. My one flame on epicski was thought out and IMO necessary...keyed only after 10 minutes away from the keyboard...with no regrets.

Come on Bonni. I remember a time when you beseeched AC to shut Gonz up. I understand that you have now seen the light, but come on cut people some slack for doing for very thing that you yourself have done.

If Gonz wants to agologize great. Nice thing to do. I am curious as to why now though?

This is true. We've had our disagreements. I learned something from it, though, and it didn't turn into a 5 ring circus.

Cut some slack? Are you kiddin? I'm thoroughly restraining myself now!

I didn't say ssh's post wasn't well thought out, etc, did I? Did I miss something? I thought I posted a separate thought, but maybe not.

Tied score, only one vote to ban him entirely (I don't take Gonzo's vote to heart), and lots of flawed's. Still, it means nothing.

I would hope that I've been here long enough that you know my answer, Bonni, but I'll be explicit: absolutely we are all Neopolitan, and that will come out in our posts. I am not suggesting that we should all disagree or express ourselves similarly. Only that civil discourse doesn't have to be boring.

Did you notice that "Banter is entertaining." line? My point is that we can banter without being rude and/or unkind. I happen to be of the opinion that kindness is all too rare, and that one can be kind without abandoning one's opinion or expression of it.
Edited: NeApolitan was correct. I looked it up. Sorry, ssh.

I'm not going to keep yapping about this, because it's goin Nowhere. Everyone has their opinions, and they are diverse. Besides, I have a life in here somewhere too, and it's the first night of OEC class for ski patrol. Have fun.
I knew you'd catch that. I was trying to make an example. Did it work?

Have fun at class! I'm looking forward to hearing about your experience.
OMG!!!!!!!!! Talk about drama.

In the past, I just skip over his posts if they are annoying, why can't others do the same. Gonzo isn't going to go out and trying to hurt you.

Let me tell you about a REAL NIGHTMARE over on the Art boards (I have hug out on for the past few years). I am an part-time artist who hopes one day to become a full-time one. There is a wonderful group but we too have a few Rotten eggs. Never in my life have I seen More back stabbing, messing with others Auctions, Slander, nasty emails, posts that could make any sensitive artist give up painting, and Messing with peoples brick and Mortar Galleries(calling the gallery and telling them horrible lies). And finding anything that person post or sells to report them just to get them banned.

Gonzo is above all that, and I think we all should be grateful that he is an intelligent person who just likes to debate and think outside the box on sometimes. We all have potty mouths, and potty heads. Stop baiting him, it took a lot for him to apologize.

and Oh yes.. we have a few Gonzo types on the Art board but we don't mind them, in fact we rather have them then the what I have described in my other paragraph.

Like I said before, I skip a lot of postings, mostly because of what he said. We are all free to post and do whatever but there does seem to be an "aire" that certain folks think they run the forum and gang up on anyone or posting they don't like. It's still free and we have choice, just my observation. This is especially true regarding newbies. I am sure many are chased away.

I don't post in the instructional forum because of just this sort of an experience, the condecension I experienced there was much worse than any of Gonzo's over the top, blustering, know it all, self aggrandizing, blather (but I don't mean to say that's all there is to him, not by a long shot).

As far as educational content, I've learned more of use to me from reading Gonzo's posts, than those of all others combined. He certainly has provided the most laughs. Part of the reason is the sheer volume of his posting, but there certainly is a keen intelligence there that is an exceptional asset to epicski.

In his apology he clearly stated that it would take time for him to adjust his "azimuth", yet some snotty, judgemental types expected him to magically transform overnight. I find them much more offensive than Gonzo, and of much less value, both to this site and as human beings.

Ok, I gotta apologize some more. Irul quoted a post I wrote in haste and anger. I regret calling Gonzo a troll and telling him to beat off and saying he should be banned. At that point, I assumed he was in some kind of trouble from a nasty exchange in the lounge. I was hoping the apology would suffice to prevent another banishment but then he's flaming away about new school just because he can't ski park or pipe. So I was angry at Gonzo because I thought he was going to get banned. See, it always comes back to love for the Gonz.

Gonzo, yes I came to the conclusion that you were warned by moderators. I didn't think it at first, but your nasty reply to mtbaker in the other thread made me question the sincerity of your apology. You say (paraphasing) "No I wasn't warned, some one threatened to report me to the moderaters, so I posted an apology preemptively. It's heartfelt because I didn't get a warning yet. Boohoo that some people suspect ulterior motives." You have apologized for arrogance but do you really think your problem is arrogance? Calling some one an infected prick doesn't come off as haughty to me. I sense anger and hate in your posts. I think it is the malicious attacks and your need to hurt and humiliate others that people sometimes have problems with.
