Best ski line? volkl, atomic, k2 etc...

My personal fav is Volkl. Haven't skied all but skied k2 and rossignol a few years ago and was disgusted. I've since heard they've turned things around, and Atomics are always winning this race or that race. But i'm a pretty big dude 200lbs athlete so maybe I need the stiffer stronger skis. But, Volkls just seem to hold the snow the best.

Head is now at the head of the class. The Monster skis (72, 77, 88) are awesome. The iXRC 1200 SW, Worldcup iSL Chip, and many others make for a broad selection of great performers.

Next, Fischer, the RC4 series sets the standard for race/carving performance, The RX skis are top quality on-piste carvers.

Why buy from a sausage factory, when independents are crafting the best skis?

Eh, for free riding, I love Line skis.

For racing, the jury is still out. I'll let you know in January.

Best,

Head? Interesting. There is an ground swell of head fans out there. The monster line I've skied and liked. Fisher, Head, Volkl, Atomic all good but best for me is volkl hands down.

My family loves Volkl's also. In-fact, I should really put them as high as these others. I'm waiting for the Atomic group to pounce!

I love those wood cores wrapped in a sheet or two of titanium. No injection for me. The germans know what they are doing.

It all comes down to personal preference. What is the best brand for me might not be the best for you. I might like one ski by a company and no other ski by them. You have to ski and try a wide variety with your eyes wide open! Don't limit it to one brand, you may miss the ski that is for you!

I've got to say the best line is the boot midsole line. It makes it so much easier to mount bindings when a ski has it.

Too bad it may not be the best place to mount the binding

That's exactly what it was intended to do, make it easier for the ski tech to mount the binding.

However, a group at Snowbird did a study for Nordica a couple of years back. Conclusion was that most Austrian/Germanic midsole lines are further back than French skis, and may not be the best mounting point for the "average" skier (whatever that is).

Notice that many of the system bindings on these brands have some ability to easily move the binding forward 1 - 1.5 cm.

I was just trying to make a funny. These "I like this, hate that" threads are getting a little long in the tooth.

99% of the skis I mount are on predrilled plates anyhow. The rest I always double check.

ATOMIC all the way BABY!

A nice topic, good discussion starter and usable tool to promote a brand. Unless considering quality criteria based on some relevant statistics of warranty issues it´s hardly more than a chat dealing with individual preferences.

IMHO, the best post was Betaracer´s.
Bohemian´s was not bad either.

volkl has the best lines of skis top to bottom, race, all mountain, freeride, intermediate, tele. Soup to nuts, volkl

Best ski line?

Um, "Nice turns, I'd love to ski with you, maybe I could learn a thing or two."

Not to forget: the slow line fast!
