Ullr's back at it. I just looked out my window at work and noticed this morning's rain was snow in the surrounding hills down to 6,500 ft......base level at Bridger Bowl. Even though I know the snow will be soon gone it has got me excited.

I got snowed on Saturday while hiking at 13K'. It was nice. More, more!

OT: Here's a picture from A-Basin's website of their base area construction. What's that purple bunker in the background?

Isn't that the old base lodge? From the side?

I guess it must be, but it just doesn't look like I remember it, and I was wondering if they'd remodelled it (in addition to the rental shop). I think the white building seen end-on is the ticket office.

I'm bored and dreaming of winter now...I got two ski magazines in the mail last week, too...

Snow on all the higher peaks around here. Stayed there all day. Keep it coming.

These week has been a bit of a tease here in the east, I am sure it will get warmer again though.

It's raining this morning in Missoula, but I checked the Point Six station of the NWS (which is very close to the summit of Snowbowl's Big Sky Mountain) and there have been freezing temperatures and an accumulation of percipitation since 9pm. Currently it's 29 degrees up top. I won't be able to tell if it's snowed until the clouds clear.

Here in Bend the Sisters and Bachelor just came out and they are white clear down to the trees.

The first dusting of high peaks in Fernie was August 18th but that was gone by noon.

This looks like it might stay around a bit. Good thing, the Cascades are really just big gravel piles when they don't have some snow.

After last season in the PNW, I hope, I hope, I hope that this is a sign of great things to come.

Yesireebob, the clouds cleared enough this afternoon to reveal bright shining whiteness covering the east and west bowls and Upper Grizzly at MT Snowbowl.

It sure is a glorious sight to see. Now if this can just keep up for the next seven months or more, I'll be quite the happy camper. I'm just sure it will too.: I'm just hoping for an "average" snow year.

6-10" forecast in the mountains of Montana above 6000' today and tonight. We'll report on the accuracy of that forecast tomorrow. The sandhill cranes are heading south, and the Canada geese are gorging on grain. It won't be long now.

It was 90 degrees here today..... We got a long way to go, but the acorns are falling off the trees. There is hope that winter will come once again
