Why don't we work on several local fundraisers to help the victims of this devestating storm?
Summit County Bears, why don't we carefully think this through and get a fundraiser, for example, where we all hike a fourteener and our sponsors donate when we make it to the top? We could get media involved (I know TV reporters that may assist in this cause.) It would be a fun pre-ski season event while helping those in desperate need. Since the clean up will take months, we can take our time to well organize this event. Comments, anyone? Hey, Bears, let's take some action! Most of us are athletes. This would be a joy for us to do. Now on to global warming. This is a subject that I discussed last night with a doctor friend of mine. While our first objective is to respect/mourn the lives lost and seek immediate solutions to supply food, shelter and water to the victims of Katrina, I question if the subject of global warming will be approached. Will scientists step forward to address this issue? Will this information make it to the media? Will our goverment allow this to be discussed/debated in hearings that involve environmental concerns and issues? Bears, how many of you feel that this is an issue that has not been taken seriously, do you feel it is truth, theory or otherwise?
Thanks, Bears, it is nice to finally be on this site.
