Yes. I guess not too surprisingly there are quite a few threads on rust. If you find the topic absorbing you can do a search. There is a certain lack of agreement as to how best to prevent it. However, most concur that a gummi stone works well for removing light rust.
Some advocate just skiing it off which, depending on the snow and the extent of the rust, will accomplish the same results along the contact length of the ski sooner or later. The rusting proccess, if left unchecked, will eventually likely produce pits in the steel edges which then must be stone ground down to obtain a clean and smooth edge.
Whenever the topic of rust comes up here, it's often a sign that people are beginning to put summer behind them and snow is not too far away. It's sort of like the groundhog and its shadow thing.
