The attraction of the X2 is the very thin liner. 100+ plus days & no packing of liner. If I bought an X-wave i'd wear a 26. In an X2 I wear a 27.
I found the course in the past was stiffer than the X2 soft. I believe the X2 is also available in an XS.
If think you should focus on fit & performance and a boot that won't pack out. You can always have the flex softened if need be. Wwhat happened to going with a Race-Tec?
Maybe it was because I tried a pre-spaceframe X2, an 03-04, or maybe it was because it had a medium flex, but that x2 felt like a dobie 150 as far as flex goes. The course spaceframe, on the other hand, felt much like my diablo 130's, which is to say significanty softer. Just my opinion. The liner was very thin on the x2 though, I was very comfortable in a 28, meaning I needed a 27. My tecnicas are 28's, and they are not exactly loose. This must have been due to the liner I guess. It did seem to like to crinkle up when you went to put your foot in though, but that is pretty normal for plugs. Anyway, at 170 I think you could comfortably flex a course. The pro model is a good boot too though, don't get me wrong, a friend of mine got 10th overall in our h.s. race league using them, so they don't suck.
