warren millier this year?

Is a Warren Miller picture being released this year? I couldn't find anything on the web. An article in Outside Magazine last year implied that there might not be any more WM flicks because of family disputes over the status/direction of the company, something about the son selling it.......

Sure, they're all commericalized but its a nice tradition to catch the flick at the local theater every fall.

Yes, there is going to be one. The Adaptive Ski Program I volunteer for has contracted to show it locally as a fund/friend raiser. I have to give kudos to WM company for being very generous and charging reasonable price to show the film due to the non-profit status of the organization. I'll let you know if that opinion changes after we've had the show in early November, but, so far, they've been a real pleasure to work with.

Here's some info someone sent me yesterday for this year. It looks like they're gonna have a Warren Miller "film festival" at least here in the Mid-Atlantic.

I was also told about this other event in Philly (see below), so I assume it's the new movie? Like I told my buddy, I'll be glad to see the film in a real theater seat for a change instead of a cold metal folding chair.

Warren Miller’s “Higher Ground”: Academy of Natural Sciences, Saturday November 12th at 6 and 9 pm.

That's lame! They usually have the current years film at the Philly show. I don't think the show is early this year, so is the movie coming out late?

The Philly Expo is Oct 21-23 at Plymouth Meeting as normal....that's where they'll give a FREE showing of classic WM films.

I tried to search for this but I didn't find anything....so if it is a dumb post I'm sorry.

Would it be possible for epicski to team up with warren miller productions to show his films as a fundraiser in various venues around the country?....seems like a marriage made in heaven....win win for all....For example I'm sure a showing here in Rhode Island would draw a crowd/ heck my whole yawgoo valley (240 vert and proud of it)crowd would show up I'm sure and URI is right up the street with multiple venues for a showing.......certainly this has been considered in the past? Worth a thought? Could raise some dough and increase awareness of epicski...if not warren miller there are myriad other ski film companies who might be a match....I sure these firms are represented within our members????.....just tossing it out...if it's been discussed before, sorry.

Who would we raise funds for? We could become a not-for-profit and give grants to the various supporters. We could stipulate that the funds would only be used for lift tickets, beer and cover charges.

SWC has indicated that Warren Miller is on for this fall. They help out each year, but I don't know what kind of incentive is provided. We do two shows, one at Proctor's in Schenectady and the other at The Palace in Albany. It's always a good time if a little too long.

Thanks for the reply. We have an active thread from dchan garnering opinion re adv on epicski....my thoughts were this might be a suitable way to cover some of epicski operating expenses in lieu of opening up that box....tho I like free lift tix....if it's free it's for me!!!!

btw the trailer is smokin!!!

FREE is always good, but I still wonder why they're not showing the current years film at the show as they have done in the past.

I hate some of the editing in WM movies especially of racing clips. But at least they have Seth this year since MSP screwed it up somehow.
