It's more of an age thingI'm primarily an apline boarder, but now skis can really carve I've been playing around to see how far you can push them toward alpine boarding style of carving. So I was happy to try out the groomers at Deer Valley recently. It was sad to see the most incredable groomers going to waste. I only saw a handful of skiers who could carve all day.
What was realy different though, was the average age. I would guess about forty years old. The atmosphere was so much more relaxed. The two week a year heroes were just as unskilled here on skis as anywhere else, but they were mature adults. It was the lack of teenagers and young adults on skis or boards that was different.
Now what I'd really like to see is a resort where anyone under twenty one must be accompanied by a parent. Where mature boarders and skiers would happily coexist.
