I see them regularly but it´s only because I´m several times a year at Johann Leitner (my bootfitter as well) who was, together with Herbert Auer, the man holding some patents used in Rexxam boots.
Afaik, the company was a small player and they were not ready to expand to Europe/the world. There was some sort of presence in Europe, mostly pushed by these two prominent bootfitters. Nicole Hosp who is a neighbor of Leitner at the village of Bichlbach even got Rexxam a WCS medal.
Both Austrians (Leitner was somehow more active) finally got to Fischer and could use their ideas and patents (maybe not all) in the Somatec boots.
Leitner still has some Rexxams in his shop but they may be what is left from older times.
I haven´t experienced any expansion at places I frequent nor among racers. I still see some Rexxams on the slopes but they are very rare.
I have checked www.rexxam.com
. No English version. There used to be some interesting theory explaining those Auer/Leitner ideas in English a couple years back but it´s gone now. Only Japanese.
According to the website the only popular skier in Rexxams is Marbler, an ex-Russian married to an Austrian and skiing moguls. Nicole Hosp, a Volkl racer, has been in Fischers for the last two years.
I would have to ask Johann to know more.
