I find that those who "get it" usually become more interested in expanding their experience, be it through further instruction or just a lot more skiing. Not everyone has to be driven to "succeed" (by whatever definition it takes), as long as everyone realizes that, at the end of the day, spending your time sliding around the snow on sticks is a pretty comical way to spend your time. A lot of fun, though. Makes me giggle.
Positive attitude is everything. Not every ski day is going to be bluebird and blower powder or perfect corduroy. Finding the joy on a rainy/icy/bitterly cold day is not always easy, but if you can exhibit enthusiasm inspire it in others, you have my respect.
