Randy has more wins over the past two seasons than any other Yankee pitcher. He also has more innings and more strike outs. Though he's not the Randy of old he has been their best pitcher.

no, now he's the Randy of Older.

i gotta believe a lot of it is that he prob'ly just didn't fit new york, the city. especially since he's going right back to good ol' ubersedated scottsdale, where, i'd bet, there are more baseball millionaires per capita and square foot than any other town in the world.

can i get an eom.

Which starter has done better over the past two seasons? The Yankee starting rotation has been a mess.

you're the yankee fan; who's been the better starting pitcher over the past two seasons?

i can only think to compare him to mussina. am i missing a starter? wang is 27-14, not a guy to rack up strikeouts. aaron small had a fine 2005 before being introduced to the reality of doing it again.

over the past two seasons, mussina is 28-15 with an ERA of roughly 4. less starts, strikeouts and innings pitched than johnson (34-19 over the same two seasons) who's ERA averages out to roughly the same, though it hit the worrisome 5.00 mark last year, where mussina's was 3.50 or so; that hardly sets anyone above johnson, particularly in a "you can't be serious," head-and-shoulders better fashion.

he wants out, the yankees are happy to oblige, they free up money for clemens and hope pettite can step in and fill a void.

All I have is anecdotal evidence, having watched 95% of the Yankee games on TV... Wang pitched far better and Mussina without question was better as well.

Johnson's win/loss record was helped by Yankee lumber many times throughout the year... he was unreliable at best. That's why they're getting rid of him. Like so many of the other big-name acquisitions (superstars way past their prime) over the past five years, it was a monstrous waste of money.

I'd like to think that Cashman's learned his lesson, but he's going after Clemens, which will be more of the same.
