If you want that magic combination of terrain, snow and apres-ski/nightlife, then Jackson Hole or Crested Butte are the places for you! Aspen is also a great choice (yes, if you want moderate-priced lodging, you can find it there).
I like the rest of the places on Bob Barnes' list as far as the skiing is concerned, but nightlife probably wouldn't match your expectations of what you find at either Killington or Whistler (though why anyone would like Killington is beyond me!
You also might like Breck and Copper, though Copper has pretty sad nightlife, so stay in Breck and take a few days to ski at Copper while there. Lake Tahoe is another option.
