Another one: Rodeway Inn Casino Ctr. SLT, Thumbs UP/DOWN??

Ok amigos, now I need help on the Rodeway Inn Casino Center, 4127 Pine Blvd./Stateline, SLT:

1. We've booked a "2 bedroom suite" 1/2-7 for an average of $50/nt, pretty damn low...But, is it worth it quality wise? By now you realize I don't need 5*, just clean, not worn-out, and safe.

2. Is it in fact a 2-block walk to the new Heavenly Gondola (10 minutes)?

A fellow bear gave it a somewhat thumbs-up, and it fares okay in other reviews, but maybe some of you savvy folks have further inside info. that will help.

Gracias!!!

PS: thanks for help on Econo Lodge Reno, we'll see....

sorry charlie, never stayed there, no comments.

there are many small hotels in state line, I guess they are all ok, at least they are surviving.
hadnt stayed there, but have been at others in the nieghborhood. i'd expect motel 6 quality.
it is across the street from the gondola and great location to heavenly's new village and the casinos and its all safe. dont find to many gang members at ski resorts.
if it's all guys, its fine. if someone is going to need to use 2 outlets at the same time, need good lighting in the bathroom and carpet with no stains; you might be spending more.

Hey Coogs,

So you know of a good one in walking distance to the resort. The wife and I are looking to go, and wanted to get something a little nicer.

Thanks,

Horizon Casino is right under the Gondola.

Thanks guys.

ullr,
if i want to stay someplace nicer, i stay at horizon; but there's a travelodge that's around the corner. thats probably your best bet.
Sorry Jack, but the Horizon is a few blocks from the gondola and definately not right under it. Harrah's is the closest Casino to the Gondola at Heavenly. I agree with several other post here in saying that just about all the SLT hotels should be passable for a group of guys. The wife and I stayed at Ceasar's during presidents week(Fri-Fri) in 03/04 and a very nice room with an in room Jacuzzi averaged $90 a night with the Holiday weekend nights being almost double the midweek nights. Ironic thing is that we only skied Heavenly once and spent the rest of the week skiing north shore. The drive is about an hour to most north shore places, but with the scenery it was still GREAT!!!

We thought about driving to the north lake and trying squaw valley, but the wife likes blue goomers and mild blacks (east coast). Would Squaw be over her head?
Squaw is the place to be ULLR

Sorry, I think Merriot is under the Gondola, but, that is an expensive hotel. Horizon is 2 blocks away, maybe 5 min. walking. I got confused on those two.
There are some not so steep slopes in Squaw, if you are staying in NLT, you may want to consider Baltimore or Cal-Nev Casino, its 20-25 min. drive to Squaw, nevertheless. Northstar is pretty close to Baltimore though, lots of blue trails there.

It's actually about a 2 1/2 block walk uphill to the gondy. Which is OK, because then you walk downhill on tired legs back to the hotel.

Like I said before, it's a nice enought hotel-not new and fancy, but not a dump.

Check out the user reviews for it on TripAdvisor.com, link. It gets mixed reviews.

mkevenson, as stated by them in an e-mail reply, is Blue Jay Lodge really 700 ft. from gondi? Also, do ALL rooms have fridge/micro?

It gets terrible reviews, but your opinion counts more to me....
I'm thinking about the Horizon, a two block walk, but heck that ain't bad.............
well, if you seem to be going towards the horizon; a couple of pointers. been a while since i stayed there, but if you want the best views stay in the aspen tower on a higher floor on the lake side(i'm assuming you want a sunset view of the lake + mountains), but the aspen tower is not attched to the casino.
if you want to be part of the casino, follow the same instructions and ask for the other tower. of course, the staff can answer the questions for you, but most people dont know to ask.

There is a free shuttle you can catch at the entrance of the Horizon which rolls by every half hour and takes you to Heavenly. If you go without a rental car you can also book shuttles for less than $20 to places like Squaw and Alpine.
