The Pocono's were much more challenging when I was a kid. For that matter, we skiied so hard back then we just wore em' down a little.
They are pretty worried up there about the waterpark stuff since there is a newer larger one set to open soon. Actually, the whole area is in a state of "train wreck" since they are now a New York City "bedroom commuter" community. Highest rate of failed mortgages in this part of the country since the fine real estate folks marketed it as a "two hour" commute to Manhattan ... it's not. Even the New York Times did a big expose on the carnage.
It's almost impossible to to get back to NYC in 2 hrs even with smooth traffic. If they said 2 hours they most meant 2hrs+59mins just getting to manhattan. For people like me who live in other boros beside bronx/manhattan.....GOOD LUCK and without easypass thats another 15 to 30 mins of wait through the tolls
Anyway no matter what other says Camback is the best place thats not TOO far for NYCityers (IF they can afford it $12-tolls $15-gas, $50-lift tix)(I'm glad I have a job) I just really hate how the tickets are only good until 5PM. I hated that I usually stay until 6PM!
They really need to chance that. It's not like I'll be staying when it dark and cold and no ones on the mountain to save my ass if I get hurt anyway. LEAVE the tickets along. I prefer seeing people skiing around me at night
