Rent a car. There's no shuttle. I believe Colorado Mtn Express or a similar company used to run one daily, but they stopped doing it. It was really expensive though.
I don't really have much thoughts regarding Winter Park. I'm sort of apathetic about the mountain, there's nothing that stands out as really good and there's nothing that's bad. It definitely doesn't make my top 10 list, but I usually ski there a few times a season.
There's a new lift going in this summer over on the Mary Jane side, that should be pretty cool.
Copper on the other hand is a lot of fun and I think the terrain is a lot better. (I'm biased, so take it with a grain of salt.) I know for a fact I could ski it 50+ days a season for six years and never get tired of it.
Depending on when you arrive, there may be some cool events going on at Copper or Winter Park. It might be worth checking in advance and planning some days around them.
Loveland sits between Winter Park and Copper about an hour from WP. You might really like the mountain and there will definitely be less people there than WP or Copper.
