It's super you are getting back into patrolling! When I first joined, I thought I was going to do it for maybe 5 yrs or so. That was 16 yrs ago, and now I can't imagine not being involved.
As for a first aid fannie pack, many of us have moved away to alternatives like a medic-style vest with lots of pockets. Personally, I never liked the way a loaded fannie pack changed my fore-aft balance. For folks who feel naked patrolling without at least 4 full sized carabiners, D rings, rope, 10 day ration of food, and other geegaw, a good back hugging climbing-style backpack seems to work well too.
