Unless something happened that I haven't heard about, our own DrFrau graduated from Medical School this weekend. So it's official.....we have a new Doctor in the house !

Congradulations Kathy !

So now do we call you Dr.DrFrau or DrFrau MD or what ?

Congradulations! Now, I've got this pain every time I .........

Getting to the advanced/expert level skiing should be a breeze after Med School especially considering how well you skied at our mini gathering at 7 Springs. I think Uncle Louie had a little hand in that and I'm sure your recent Colorado trip took you a little closer to your goals.

I still hate you.:

Aww Shucks

Well Thanks!

The School of Medicine Investiture (Hooding Ceremony) was yesterday. The WVU Cattle Drive is today - but I skipped that one. Being crammed into the basketball arena with 20 some thousand other people was not my idea of fun for my children and "older" parents.(They'd beat me if I called them "elderly"!)

The Hooding was awesome. As I told a friend - I wanted to pinch myself to make sure it was all really over - I was afraid I was going to wake up and it would be the morning of the Neuroanatomy Final my first year!

I held it together until they called my name - but then lost it on the way back to my seat. Another classmate told me, that was it - he just wasn't going to sit near me anymore, cause I almost had HIM crying!!

My Dad took a bajillion pictures, but I only have one or two on my camera - I'll post em as soon as I can get em uploaded, in case anyone needs "proof" - LOL!

Hey Louie-- The Offical Title is:

Kathryn Sherlock, M.D., M.P.H.

but "Frau" is just fine... I also answer to "Mom", and "Hey you"

Congratulations Dr. Frau. I know how much it takes. You should be very proud. The next question is whether your residency program is near a major ski area....?

Wow! Frau!

And, say, Sherlock, wasn't it Dr. Holmes?

Sorry, couldn't resist. Congrats! And getting the boy in a tie to watch Mom graduate. Something must be going right on the home front, too.

LOL! No, amazingly he didn't fight about the tie - he even agreed to cut his hair (sort of - what you see IS shortER) and shave off his beard. I told him it was for his grandparents, but it was really for me. The beard will be back within 3 weeks (and he's not even 17 yet.

They're good kids - couldn't have done it if they weren't. I told them all how proud I was of them for helping me through

Oh and somebody told me today that with a name like "Doc Sherlock", I should be a grizzled old GP!

If I were footloose and fancy-free, Denver would be high on the list Lisa! As it is now, I'm staying here in town for Pediatric residency - made the kids happy to not have to move, and it is a good program. That takes care of the next three years.:

Then, I have signed an agreement with the state of WV to do at least 2 years of rural primary care, in exchange some partial student loan-payback/forgiveness.(Current loan total is on the order of $110,000 :. And I'm lucky 'cause my undergrad was paid off a long time ago - not the case for my classmates)

That takes me to five years from now. After that will depend on how settled I am, and the kid situation, and custody issues and how much of the loan is left. I haven't entirely ruled out a Fellowship in Pediatric Infectious Disease, (Denver Children's has such a program), but by then I might not be willing to go back and be in a training situation again. Might just try to sit for the Tropical Medicine Boards instead.

Alot of you are talking about retirement goals, but sheesh, I'll have to work until I die!:

As for ski locale, since I'm not moving right now, I'll be hanging around 7Springs for awhile.

Speaking of which..... hey Rob - Uncle Louie did an awesome job getting me back "on" skis, But just remember I'M the one who "stayed" on skis
