Tell me about my new skis - Head i.XRC 1100 SW's

I received a new pair of these as a gift. I’ve mounted the bindings. I’ve stared at them in the living room over and over. I’ve gathered up every piece of information I could find on the internet and here. OK, so I’m a little obsessive. But, hey, it’s the off-season and I won’t have these on the snow for at least 6 months.

Anyway, if anyone with any first-hand experience with these things would like to fuel my obsession further, please do. As a hard snow, high-speed, carving freak, will I be happy? (I think I know the answer!)

Some thoughts

They've got a crummy name, and the graphics are boring. But damn they ski good. Super solid carving on groomers. I'm thinking of getting a pair, but maybe the 2006 model with "liquid metal" top : and a different color (orange instead of yellow) but similar graphics : By the way I'm looking at a 163 or 170 despite being 210lbs and used to much longer skis. They're fun toys. Enjoy.

You will love them. I think they look very nice too.

There are much worse gifts, like slippers or a tie...

You are either absolutely lucky or the person having chosen them knows the ropes.

Lucky, for sure, but the giver (my brother) did know they were on my short list of "dream skis".

How simple, dear Watson...

The Head SWs are a great ski. They 're stable, surprisingly quick, have powerful rebound and hold a good edge on hard snow. During a spring trip to Vermont they also handled the crud and slush well enough that I didn't even bother to use to use the Atomic Rex s I brought with me. They can be a little bit of work in bumps- but nothings perfect. I purchased the 163 cms (same length that I demoed), and I weigh under 160 lbs. I have no doubts you'll have a blast on those skis.

I'm around 180lb, and have them in 170cm.
They are an excellent ski.
No much back seat to them, and they don't suffer fools gladly, but they do hold their edges well, and go fast. Very fast. (Ask SSH, as he saw me ski past his slow B5s several times...)

Nice. As I suspected, I'm sure these will suit me perfectly. FWIW I'm 165lbs and have the 163's which I think will be just right. Can't wait to get on 'em and lay some trenches!
