Internet access issues for EpicSki? - Page 2

I have been unable to get on (from home computer, cable access) from early yesterday evening until this afternoon. Didn't run any updates or change anything. I have had a few shorter incidences of inaccessibility to Epic.

I'm pretty sure that there's something fairly major happening on the 'net, but haven't been able to discover what (since my personal access to the entire 'net went down right after my last post last night!). I'll report what I find...

I'm having no problem at all connecting from either my PC or my Mac. Just another data point. Odd.

Now my Earthlink connection seems to be working fine. Go figure.:

None of this is really odd when you figure the way the Internet works. In fact, it's actually more odd that it actually does work most of the time! Yes, I know of what I speak. I've been working with the Internet technologies since 1986...

Just tomorrow. I had planned for today, but Terry's off with her lady friends on their annual shopping trip, so I'm home with the kids. Loveland on the morrow!

I've seen no problems connecting through Roadrunner

annual shopping trip?! gaaah. How does she do it? Shopping trips should be as frequent as possible.

ant,

This is just the multi-day "girls only" version! I just talked to her. She's exhausted. Guess tomorrow's my turn to be exhausted!

ah, a big shopping expedition. Those are fun. I usually go to Sydney for those, hit all the factory places and Ikea.

There ya go! She hit the factory places today. They have an Ikea, but I don't know if she went there. Of course, she does shopping mall analysis like I do MA!

I don't remember what a good day looks like since I have not been watching this site much lately but internet traffic

You've got to plan those trips just right. I love Ikea, the bigger the better. OTOH, for good bargains at those factory places, if you can check them every week, that's how you get the really killer hauls.

Yeah, definitely some things going on (that's pretty high packet loss for the US), but I haven't found a major peering problem or other traffic issue that would account for the challenges that some are having getting to EpicSki. I will let you know if I hear anything from the various techie grapevines...

looks like one of the down routers is a UUnet router.

That would hurt a lot of people. Isn't UUnet a tier 1?

Yeah. It used to be the tier 1, for all intents and purposes. I haven't stayed current, so I'm not sure how bad that could be. But, at least when I was doing it actively, it would likely be really bad!
