Well, I finally got to ski on my eBay purchased Raichle Flexon VIP's this past weekend in Mammoth. I can definitely say that these boots are built much better than my old Dolomites(got to hand to the Swiss!). I went to Footloose for a fitting and was helped by Kevin Hepburn, a fellow Flexon skier. I have skied on older Superfeet off-the-shelf insole for years and Kevin recommended an updated version for a better fit. I appreciated not being pressured to purchase a custom insole, almost SOP in most ski shops I've been in. I mentioned to Kevin during the consultation that I felt discomfort in the forefoot area(the inner boot seemed very narrow). After fitting the insole to the innerboot, I booted-up and all my previous discomfort had disappeared. I went out skiing in my Flexons for the first time in spring conditions, two half-day and one full-day of skiing. It felt strange to have the sensation of ankle flexion and I became aware of the need for a more balanced stance over my skis. These are only the third pair of boots I have ever owned( a rear-entry Salomon and the overlap Dolomites). The Flexons are very adustable and much closer fitting than my other boots but still provide a comfortable fit. Shin-bite is my major problem(chicken legs!) and there was none in the Flexons. My initial experience with Flexons is very favorable and I look forward spending more time in them. Thanks Phil Pugliese for answering all my newbie questions(I have more!). I hearby apply for membership in FLoA(Flexon Lovers of America), pending approval from the other members!
