suggest a ski for me

hi everyone

I'm lucky enough to be in Denver next week for a conference and I am thinking about meeting some people from here to go ski.

Well, so, I am going to need some skis. I'd love to get ideas and input. I know that the ski has to suit me, and the snow conditions.

About me:
- female
- 5'7 and 134
- very strong/athletic
- I am about a level 6 skier (and progressing), but not at all timid

Any ideas?

Thank you.

With the snow they are getting right now I would say K2 Phat Luv in 150

Atomic metron 9 in a 157. Handle whatever conditions you get and give up little to any of them.

I can't tell from your post whether you are renting or buying.
It sounds like you may like the K2 Burnin Luv or Dynastar Exclusive Legend
Many of the shops in Breck have some great deals for rentals.
Also, many of the shops are selling skis at great prices.

Hmmmmm That wasn't as easy as I thought it would be but I'm pretty sure I got it.

Nancy, you don't think the Burnin' might be a bit much for a level 6? What about the True or One?

Well, well WELL! I was unaware of the meaning of your logon name until now. Is this a reflection of your personality, or just a formerly inside joke?

Colorado is going through flaky spring weather right now. Chances are you'll either find yourself skiing powder/crud, spring corn or spring ice.....I'd avoid the spring ice. For the other two conditions a good forgiving ski is the Rossignol B2. (It also preforms adequately on ice.)

oko,

As a girl I lived on big island and then moved to CA. I don't remember a lot.

Everyone is so great for sharing their ideas about skis. I did try the Rossi B2s before, but I didn't like them because they seemed soft. I'd love to try the "luv" series of skis because I have heard so many good things about them.

Thank you.

That's helpful, hulagirl! The other ones you may try, then, are the Volkls (should be plenty of demos). Fischers would be good, too, but more difficult to find (I don't know who has demos). The Atomics would suit you well, too, if you're committed to improving. Are you coming to the ESA?

Steve - I focused on hulagirl's "athletic/strong and not timid description
of her skiing. Given that information, she may luv the Burnin Luv. I have not skied the One Luv or True Luv so I can't comment on those.

duh....idon'tgetit:

re skis I hear the volkl attiva 5 star is gonna rock as a women specific high end ski, haven't seen review yet...I am gonna go with the allstar myself....for next season.

I sort of fit your profile, but might be more than level 6, not sure. I like an all mountain ski, one to handle all conditions - powder, crud, groomed, ice. I am not one to have a variety skis and in NZ you might get to ski all types of snow in one run, so can't see the point of having to decide which ski to take.

my ski of choice has been Atomic Beta 10.20, (11.2 is stiffer) , which have been great. I have just purchased Head IM70 for the coming season. Demo'ed the Head IM70 last year and just loved them so got them to replace the Atomics which saw some major damage last year on hidden rocks.

Thank you all so very much. I have written down all of your ideas and will make some phone calls to see what I can rent.

I have not purchased skis yet, but I did finally buy boots!

Burnin Luv was my first thought as well.
