DST, starts too late for me in the spring and goes to late in the fall. I've been waking up at 5:00AM for the last three weeks. In October, I get SAD from waking up in the freaking dark.

I never understood why DST starts almost two weeks after the vernal equinox but ends over a month after the autumnal equinox. I think it should be symetric. Start it two weeks earlier and end it two weeks earlier.

Sorry, I just sometimes think the world we be a better place if a few little things were done my way.

Good question. My guess is it runs late in the fall to give more time for evening harvesting. A tradition from the days of the family farm perhaps? LewBob

Down under we have just lost our extra hour of daylight in the evenings and I miss it, I am a DST fan. We must follow the equinox more closely, we changed over on March 19. Or maybe it was just pure luck that the govenrment chose that date.

During DST it can be light until 9:30pm where I live, which is great for doing things after work wether it is gardening, going for a run or a bike ride etc. But on the bright side I guess it does mean that winter is getting closer, we have been getting falls of snow on the hills, won't be enough to ski on until late June.
