Sorry to hear that WPT has fallen into the "we're in Park City, therefore we must rip people off" rut.
However, I'd go to the local stores in SLC before going online, especially if you find a good shop with good people. Online retailers are really hurting the independent cycling shops (and ski shops, too, though the mechanics of the ski market are somewhat different), so it's essential to support your locals first. After all, you can't get personal fitting, local ride advice, etc., from an online mega-retailer or a MTB shop that's HQ'ed in SoCal when you live and ride in PC. Just my $0.02.
That said, I do purchase some "bulk goods" online: tubes by the 10-pack, bar tape, etc. But major purchases (including bikes, pedals, shoes, technical clothing) are made at independent, local retailers. That's how you keep things healthy on a local front.
I still stand behind my recommendation of Wild Rose in SLC: good people, fair prices, excellent service and advice.
