To add to this Epic gathering thread, I had a great day with Uncle Louie yesterday. We started the day around 9:30, playing on the groomed off the summit of A. As the sun softened the various bowls, we played in the softening bumps. We chatted extensively about many things, from EpicSki.com to ski teaching and our own personal histories. He knows virtually all of the Examiners that I have had the pleasure to meet these past couple of years, and skied with many of them during his tenures at various Summit County resorts. We also talked about surfing and observational skills...
As we stopped for lunch, some guy started to whine about where I was sticking the skis. When I turned around, who should be there but bong?! The three of us ate lunch together with the Over the Hill Gang International (UL being an official member, bong being a prospective one, and me being an OHG Copper guide) before spending some time in the afternoon making turns together.
We did torture Uncle Louie on one lift ride... We made him ride single!
All-in-all a great day with two great guys. We had fun playing with various technical styles (Canadian pole plants, Gonz's chicken wing, ssh's various annoying habits [what was that phrase, again, Louie?!]), and I even showed them my pre-2003 style... I laughed a lot, made a lot of turns, carved in a rotary boot, and got nicely sun-cooked.
Sunday will likely be my final fling this season... and I'm packin' a surprise!
