Before replying I had to check and make sure this post wasn't dated April 1. It isn't, so....
Diesel Fuel? Not on my bases, not ever. Besides what it may or may not do to our bases, do we really need to be putting diesel on our bases when it will wash right off of our bases, and onto the snow and into the watershed? What about that?
Try good old CH10. I recently started using Holmenkol Molybdenum Additiv, it seems to really help a lot on the dirty re-frozen spring snow. I just wax every couple of days, not every run, and it seems to work fine. I wanted to try Holmenkol's Glacier Wax it seems to be made for this stuff, but haven't found a source for it yet.For cleaning bases, hot scrape please. Base Prep wax or whatever the wax of the day is gonna be.
BTW - I do know who KLKaye's waxing guru is, and have heard him say the same. I don't buy it. I have felt my skis stick to the snow for several runs when they are not scraped well. I gave up on trying to scrape some CH4 earlier in the year (dull scrapers, running late), you could still see it several days later. Obviously, it didn't just ski off. Maybe they never need the hard waxes out in the Rockies though. I still scrape and brush. With a bronze brush to start, sometimes I use a nylon brush too, sometimes not.
