As an examiner friend once said, "It's the closest thing to a degree in skiing we have in this country".
Love it or hate it, it's the "standard" in the US. Most people at the top of the ed staff are good and sincere. It's the local level where egos get in the way.
Anyway, we should be able to laugh at ourself.
