Yukon, I have always been anti-fashion, but your comment about blue jeans makes me feel really old. "In my day" blue jeans were cool because the alternative were stretch pants, and we ski bums were not going to be caught in stretch pants. Wind pants were okay when they came along in the 70's. I also used to like skiing on 5 or 6 year old skis bought used, and skiing better than most of the people on the latest gear. Now I need all the help I can get!!
I remember my 3rd day on skii: age fifteen just moved to Colorado from Wisconsin where I had skied twice. I was riding the high school ski bus up to ski the Berthoud Pass ski area. I was definitely a gaper. I looked at those peaks as we headed up the pass and couldn't believe anyone could ski where we were going. Once on top of the pass, the skiing was rather tame, but I am sure my mouth was wide open on the ride up.
BTW, $5 got you a lift ticket and the trip up on the bus!!
