USSA & Discounts on Lift Tickets?

Overheard this conversation in a gondola at Gore Mt. last weekend:

Woman 1: I got two requests in the mail from Bode for donations, ... I thought he was a millionaire already.
Woman 2: He's soliciting through USSA, ... I paid $20 to join, and you can get a discount here at the ticket window. But I forgot my memberhsip card.
Woman 1: Says something about not sending a donation...

Does anyone know about these discount lift tickets, (how much, what mountains participate)... couldn't find anything on the USSA website mentioning this?

EMS,
I also got that mailing. I don't rmember anything about lift ticket though there might have been something. I think the conversation is funny, as if Bode Miller was behind the solicitation.

"I got a request from Bode... He's soliciting through the USSA,..." , well not really, I think it's the other way around. Now that's just plain funny.

It sounded like there were discounts, say $5 or $10 or so, at various mountains, just for showing a USSA memberhsip card, not related to the mailing.

Yes, overhearing that conversation I kinda chuckled.

discounts?

I have never heard of a USSA discount. I have heard of PSIA discounts but the only one I ever got was $10 off .... one time .... then I quit asking.

A few shops will give a USSA discount if you are affiliated with a local race program. 97% of the ski shops will laugh if you ask.
