World-renowned Epic Ski

Since I've only been on here a few months, I had no idea how famous Epic Ski really is.

Called Stowe Ski School last week to book an instructor for private lessons this week. I had a list of names that people here have suggested as good Level III and above coaches.

As I asked about each one, the woman said, "Sorry, booked." Or "Sorry, not working those days." Or, "Sorry, not working period."

So, I kept going until she said, kind of like Barbara Stanwyck in an old 40's movie, " Saaayyyyyy.....that's some list you have there. Names are all over the place. How'd you come up with all of those?"

And I said, "Oh, well, as you can see, they're all Level III or --"

"Yeah, Yeah. I see that. But where did you get them?"

"Oh. Well, I recently joined this ski forum and --"

"Epic Ski?"

"Why, yes."

"I knew it!" And she laughed.

The question * I * have now is:

WHY WAS THIS WOMAN LAUGHING?!?!?!?!?!?!

'cause she hasn't learned how to bark like a bear.

You had me at "Barbara Stanwyck"! She was 'the sh*t', as the kids say. Way ahead of her time. Cool dame.

BTW - you'll notice that the only forum the Teton Gravity Research forum rips on is this one! Although the other day someone there likened the Epic-bashing to 'children complaining about the parents who buy them their ski equipment'. LOL!

Maybe because.....she knew..... you were going to call an interaction with a reservationist @ Stowe 'world renowned' :

I'd be curious what reaction she would have had if you said TGR instead of Epic Ski.

Wasn't passing this on as a joke, ... although that's how the preceeding posts started. Sorry is if came across that way.

The TGR guys are a real tight group and some of the (probably) best skiers around. I didn't see it as a joke at all and I didn't take it that way. Din't worry about it.

Old School --

If you're a Barbara Stanwyck fan, then I hope you've seen her fab comedic
performance in "The Lady Eve." (Directed by Preston Sturges). If not, you
must go out and rent it at once! Do not return to this forum until you have!

So, Cryptica, you are going to look up the lady and find out, aren't you?

Yes, indeed, I finally met the lady, but I will leave it to you to query her about her laughter. Some things are perhaps better left unknown. . .

Duuuude, how could you?! Was she logged onto EpicSki when you walked up to her?

I thought on the phone she said her name was "Shauna," but since everyone keeps mentioning "Donna," I guess I misheard her. Or IS there a "Shauna?"
