Raise your thumb if you've ever skied in a garbage bag.I'm from the East. Would I sacrifice at trip to Crystal, WB, Mt. Hood, Bachelor, Sun Valley, or Big Mtn to ski some colorful eastern areas like Stowe, MRG, Wildcat, Whiteface, Sugarloaf, Sugarbush, Killington, Cannon, etc? NO. But if something else drew you to the East, a long lost relative, a job interview, an appearance on the Conan O'Brien show, especially in late February, then yes toss in a visit to Stowe or one of the others, because chances are you'd find a ski experience that in many ways would be as satisfying as that found at one of those western places I mentioned, just on a more compact scale.
About the White Mtns: I'm from the mid-Atlantic. If we could have the snow and terrain of one of those White Mtn areas like Wildcat or Cannon in our region, I promise I would never complain about the cold or the ice.
