Some ghastly wood ski from Sears in the late 60s. I could not get up the t-bar because the skis vibrated so much they wouldn't stay in the tracks. My first day skiing was a disaster. I cried like the baby I was. I hearing boned up and skied down the bunny hill, with the rattly skis and leather boots.
I stoped skiing for a few years. Then, I started again with some fibre-glass Dynastar GS skis (180s). I graduated to renting longer skis for higher speeds. Then in the 80's I bought the ultimate (at the time) high speed weapon that could still be useful off a DH Course, my Kästle Super Gs. They don't ever seem to get up to speed in Ontario. I'm trying to decide on a short twisty-turny ski to use here in the East. Top runners are SX11, RX8, and, still looking to try out, SL11.
