Colorado 3/23-28

I'll be heading to Denver on 3/23. I arrive at 10:00 AM and if all goes well, I plan on skiing at Loveland by 1:00 PM for an afternoon session. I take it they offer half day tickets??? Speaking of tickets, does anyone know of any places to buy discount lift tickets besides Maison de Ski? I'll be staying in Silverthorne at the La Quinta. Are there any shops there or in Dillon that offer discount passes?

I think I saw where Fox will be around that week any others?

This is the rest of my tentative schedule and would love some local knowledge and guidance for the good stuff if anyone is available:

3/24 - Vail
3/25 - Vail/BC (1/2 day to take my personal Talons Challenge)
3/26 - A Basin/Keystone (1/4 day and a little night skiing)
3/27 - Copper
3/28 - WP/MJ

Cool.

Maybe we can hook up for some turns at Vail. Anybody going to have radios with them? Channel?

19/3 arrive in Vail (late)
27/3, unlike Coach, I want to make it further than the Mid-Atlantic, as it will be a long swim home from there.
In between times, not much arranged. Have transport, so may travel around a bit.

WTFH If you decide to drive around and sight-see a bit, you may want to consider going further West on I-70 through Glenwood Canyon. There are some very colourfull rock formations there and you would be driving in the bottom of the canyon along the river.

If you make it all the way to Glenwood, go swimming in the worlds largest natural (sulpher) hot spring fed pool. You can get info online----search for Glenwood Springs. It is visable from the highway as you enter town on the right. That will take any aches and pains away......

Can't ski, but if I'm off crutches and oxygen : by the 25/26, I'd love to meet up for dinner or apres.

I'll be in Breck 3/19-3/26 with a side trip to Vail on Wed to catch WTFH. I'm trying to convince him to come down to Breck for a day as well...we'll see after Wed perhaps ...he may hate me

I'm planning on skiing with WTFH and friends tomorrow (22 March). Coach13, can we hook up, too? PM me and I'll drop you my mobile number. I've been calling WTFH at his hotel since the transAtlantic phone rates seem just too painful! Lisa, are you sure you don't want to ski Vail tomorrow?

It looks like (unfortunately) I may not make it on Friday. I will be up on SUnday, however- will anyone still be there? (you guys sure picked the right week for snow!)

Loveland

Flex ticket at Loveland is $ 38 for four hours. They sell you a regular price ticket and then you have to take it back to the window to get your refund. The best deal is a six pack at $ 209 for six tix ($ 31.50 for all day), but you have to buy these in advance.

Loveland just got 11 inches of fresh today on top of the foot they have gotten in the last ten days, so conditions should be awesome.

Just be prepared for no bars on the chairs...

Breck/Keystone/Abasin Tix

There is also a $ 49 deal for the above tix through some grocery store in the greater Denver area, but I think you have to have a local drivers license. These include night skiing at Keystone, so they are a really good deal.

Maybe some other Bear will have more info?

Drop by any major grocery on the way up (someone will know which exit from I-70, I'm sure). King Soopers, Safeway, Albertsons should all have discount tickets. There are some off the highway at the rental places, too.

Last night, I dreamed I sneaked away to ski Vail. Then I found out that the bus was not going there. Then I realized I forgot my skis. Then I realized I forgot my season's pass. Then I realized I forgot my crutches. In the dream, I thought I would try to go to Copper, but I realized that I know too many people there, and they would send me home. It was a very sad dream.

If possible, I'd love to get together some evening this weekend.

I am skiing with Fox on Friday. Lisa - maybe you and Mark could come over to Vail on Friday afternoon for happy hour and/or dinner? Fox does not have a car.
Alternatively, I would be happy to bring him to Frisco for dinner if someone else would give him a ride back to Vail.

LM, I'm so sorry... I feel for you; one of my group hurt herself on Sunday. I wanted to help, but there was really nothing to do but comfort her as they loaded her onto the sled. Freak accident (like yours): just traversing from the top of Timberline towards Sierra, chatting with one of her friends. Caught an edge and went down, re-injuring her ankle/achilles (still waiting to hear the exact injury).

Anyway, treat yourself well.

Regretfully, I'll be with you folks in spirit, but not in body. Saw the doc today, and my oxygen level is still mysteriously low. Can't be off the tank for more than a few hours at a time. You all have fun now!

Well, yesterday at Vail was Epic! I'm sure that it was "even better yesterday" for those who skied both days, but we had a great time ripping lines in fresh snow all day. It was great to see Fox, to meet Segbrown (Susan, I'm so glad you dropped me a PM!), and to have them meet some of my ski buddies. I'll let Fox report the particulars as only he can.

Today, Fox was skiing Copper while I took my 8-year-old to Breck to ski with friends. Another good day, but completely different.

LM, get better, will ya?!?!

Thank YOU for letting me tag along. It was a beautiful Colorado day, wasn't it! And it was very nice to meet you, your buddies, and the famous Fox, of course.....

Thank you, Fox, Tom Burch, Rdy2ski and Bong for visiting me yesterday. It brightened up my day!

Too late, but I just saw you were skiing Copper today. Bummer - I've still got comps left. Hope you had a good time - conditions were great today. I had a lot of fun on Tucker.
