Salomon Scream 10 Hot or Street Racer 9 anyone have (love/hate) them?

My local ski shop guy suggested either one of these as great all mountain boards, with the 9 having more carve to them. And the Hot a bit smoother. Feedback on these would be appreciated. Thanks.

Streetracer 9, while a fast ski, sucks ass. If you want a good carver, get the Volkl 724 EXP. The Hot also sucks ass, unless you have them in moguls, which I feel they are quite adept at, although some may disagree. The B2 is a much more capable choice. You you want an all mountain carver, you really can't go wrong with either the B2 or the EXP, although the B2 is more versatile in different snow conditions due to its softer feel (although it is a less capable carver than the EXP). But don't buy before you DEMO!!!!

deliberate1, what are you really looking to find? That is an easier question to answer...

ssh, I am looking for what every soul on this board is looking for. The one ski that God would choose....(and the perfect length too).

Oh. You mean a 2006 Nordica Hot Rod Top Fuel?

DAMN, ssh, I just knew that ski was the key to my salvation. Oops. Sorry, Lord. My bad.

If God was bland, dull and boring, he'd be on Salomons. (unfortunately, a lot of the people who work for Him are, so if you're a minister/priest, go for the StreetRacer)

WTFH, there is Truth in what you say. Remember that King Salomon was the one who could not make up his mind, so he proposed to split the ski and give half to piste and half to off piste. It just got everyone pisted off....(Sorry, again, Lord).

Well, let's see, I wonder can I maybe give you some insight...

If you're a Roman Catholic, then the Pope is the HEAD of the church.
If you believe in the trinity, then you will understand the GodHEAD
If you've study Daniel, you'll know about the statue which has a HEAD made of gold, and then the rest of the statue is inferior.

Now, if only there was some way to understand what that all meant...

Ya, well, I am of another persuasion So let me suggest to you what BINDING of Isaac by Abraham is really all about. There is skiing in that story. Two guys going into the mountains for an outing. They bring all their own gear. Ski lift is an ass. Sharp edges play prominantly. And just before Abe does the Biblical equivalent of the double diamond deed, God steps in and says don't do it. Happens to me all the time. Then they do the Goat (ok, the ram...translation issue). Any takers?

Well, if Isaac had been bound with Marker bindings, he would have been released way before Abraham got near his edges.

To get back to the subject of this thread, local ski shop guys always tend to suggest what they have to sell, not what you really need or want. I agree with mrzinwin on your two original choices, and his two suggestions (B2 or EXP).

WTFH (Woa Thine Falls Hurt), good one! Not my experience with Markers, though. I was sacreficed. April, 1969, I am a 13 yo skiing on Head 320's/Markers in Tuckerman's Ravine. I go through a crud mound and torque to the right. Snap. Fx tibia and fibula. Only thing intact is the Marker toe. At the hospital they shot me up with Demerol. That is when I first saw God....There's that ski/God thing again.
Mudfoot, I am obliged for bringing the thread back. I am going to look for the EXP and B2's to demo.

To answer your question, I have the Salomon Scream Hot 10s and find them fine in the bumps. I'm a GS racer and was disappointed in how difficult it was to initiate a carve on them. I learned that you have to really roll the edges and stomp on your downhill ski. Then they'll engage and you can lay down some nice tracks.

Gotta try the Fischers, Elans, Atomics, and Nordicas, too. Maybe even some K2s. Lots of good skis out there...

Here is my gear review on the Hots:

http://forums.epicski.com/showthread...ht=salomon+hot

The short of it is that I like them just fine in an all mountain role, but they are better on groomers, hard pack and crud. They would be best in middle western or eastern frozen and refrozen machine made groomed.

At a turning radius of 19.5 they are right in between a GS and a slalom cut. So I did not have the problems with turn initiation that others have noted, but then I am an old school bend-at-ze-knees kind of skier. I find on these that you want to have a slightly more balanced stance but for me they carve wicked well. Maybe a little too twitchy

I did not like them in the bumps, but that may be a function of the length I chose at 187. I understand this year they are making only in the 165 and 175 lengths. They were also ok in 10-12 inches of powder, but you would want a real powder ski for anything deeper.

So me likey, but not for everything.
