Yesterday I went cat skiing for the first time at Ski Cooper/Chicago Ridge near Leadville, Colorado. I have not had much experience skiing in deep powder and I was a little concerned at first. Despite the first run being on some nasty wind slab stuff, the day was wonderful. The guides and the cat driver were friendly, informative and fun. The cat was always waiting for us when we arrived the end of the run. Although it had not snowed in a week, there were plenty of untracked areas and some nice tree skiing. Lunch and post skiing happy hour were part of the package. I can only imagine how great it would be with some fresh snow. The views of Mt. Elbert and Massive and the rest of the area were spectacular. I will definetely do this again.
