Si's Birthday

Thread Starter
To those of you who don't know me, my name is Hannah and I am Si's daughter. I decided to make a short post today for my dad because today (Feb. 7th) is his 53rd birthday! (He is totally going to kill me! J ). I am sure that you are all well aware of my Dad's passion (borderline obsession) with skiing, so hopefully you can appreciate the following song lyrics.

Dad, this one’s for you (sorry I’m not as talented as you with my lyric composition). You are not only a great skier, but the best freind a duaghter could ever ask for! Happy birthday!

Ticket to Ski

(To the tune of The Beatles, Ticket to Ride)

I think I’ve got a crazy Dad,

It is his birthday

Yeah

My Dad is loosing his mind,

and will not slow down.

He’s got a ticket to ski,

He’s got a ticket to ski,

He’s got a ticket to ski,

And he won’t stop.

He said that skiing is all,

that he works hard for

yeah

He will not ever slow down,

Despite all the pain.

He’s got a ticket to ski,

He’s got a ticket to ski,

He’s got a ticket to ski,

And he won’t stop.

I don’t know why he won’t ever slow down.

He oughta rest up

He can not get better than me.

Before he thinks he can pass me by

He oughta rest up

He can not get better than me!

My dad is driving me mad,

He’s getting too good.

Yeah

My dad is fifty three,

And still going strong

Yeah

He’s got a ticket to ski,

He’s got a ticket to ski,

He’s got a ticket to ski,

And he won’t stop.

I don’t know why he won’t ever slow down.

He oughta rest up

He can not get better than me.

Before he thinks he can pass me by

He oughta rest up

He can not get better than me!

He said he won’t ever stop,

He’ll ski to the end.

Yeah

And I will ski by his side

If I can keep up.

He’s got a ticket to ski,

He’s got a ticket to ski,

He’s got a ticket to ski,

And he won’t stop.

My dad is too good.

My dad is too great

My dad is too good

My dad is too great

My dad is the best.

Happy birthday Si. You already have the greatest gift. Now Si and Bob are both legends in their own time, with songs to their heroic feats. We should all be so fortunate.

Nice job, Hannah. Don't worry, though. He'll never catch you anyway.

Happy Bitrhday Si!

Great Job with the song Hannah! Hope to see you around here more!

: : :

I've been trying to ignore this but it's tough.

This thread is FLAWED! In my own distorted mind I can still hang with my daughter.

I am reporting this thread to Dchan and AC and ask that it be removed due to embarrassing content and inadequate rhyme.

In spite of that let me just say that, as you might imagine, I feel pretty good about have such a great daughter.

Hannah, did I see you singing backup behind Paul during the halftime show yesterday?

Nice job, and Si, welcome to Club 53.

Happy Birhtday Si! Hope to cross paths again in Jackson Hole someday!

Happy birthday Si, it is a good age to be!

I'm in the back row singing badly and off key

I'm not touching it

I was also thinking "Priceless" as I was reading this.

Happy Birthday Si. It must feel pretty good to be you. Your a lucky man.

Hannah, you're okay with me. So's your dad. And we know how much he loves his children by how much he talks about y'all in here, always in glowing positive light.

lucky family! and to think they just got to ski with Bob Peters. endlessly lucky!

Well Gonz, not quite all the family got to ski JH and with Bob. Given that both my kids are at the University of Colorado skiing pretty much at will I don't feel the least bit guilty that they could not join me in JH this time (although it's alway my preference to ski together with them). In fact, I don't mind rubbing it in that (I think I speak here for both me and them) a week skiing in JH with no new snow is still better than skiing in the front range and Summit County just about any time (absent the rare, huge multi-day Colorado dump of course). No offense meant to Colorado folks .

In saying this you should understand that not only does JH have our most favorite terrain, but we have a few friends there besides Bob and Ruth (our very best friends there) who provide additional great skiing (and social) opportunities both inbounds and bc. In fact, the best snow I skied on this trip was on a bc tour with another friend climbing to the top of Cody skiing off the back down into Granite Canyon, skinning up to Indian Lake then skiing back down to Granite and on out. On both of those runs we still found powder deep enough to blow up above our waists. Of course, being a flat-lander, I was TOTALLY waisted by the time we got back after dark, especially having made my first climb up Glory with Bob upon my arrival the day before and skiing the tram a few times before heading out on the tour. But that's what Jackson's all about - waisting yourself until you've got nothing left.

Ditto that! I hope that when my daughter grows up, we have just as good of a relationship as you have.

As was overheard by me somewhere (can't remember where I heard it)... "I'm not raising children, I'm raising adults."

You obviously have churned out some young adults who will not add to the stereotypes portrayed in the snowboarder threads! Good on ya mate!

What John and Max Capacity said! Thanks Hannah for the post and Happy Birthday Si.

Great post, Hannah. You have a great Dad--even if he can't keep up with you anymore

Happy Birthday Si.

Hannah, great post. You have a cool dad, but it seems you already know that.

Happy Birthday Si,

What a great gift to have such a sweet daughter (and a pretty nice son, too). I've been lucky enough to see the special relationship you share with your kids. I've also enjoyed spending time with them apart from you and know just what "mensches" they are.

Cheers,
stmbtres

Just wanted to thank everyone for their kind wishes. As has been said, my daughter's (and son's) sentiments are priceless to me and I feel like a very lucky guy. I assume that those here on Epic also understand what a great contribution skiing and mountains have made to our family.

Happy birthday, Si.

Hannah, don't be a stranger around here. You rock! (Let me know if you and/or bro want to make some turns up in Summit sometime, won't you? I skied with your bro at Eldora last year.)

I pray my relationship with my three kids develops to where yours have, Si. In a very real way, you're a hero! Good on ya!
ssh, perhaps now we have a new lyricist for our songs (well, anyone would be better than that Irish guy...)

Happy Birthday, Si!
