Dynastar Nobis/Legend Pro - Length diff?

Hello,

I'm contemplating buying a new pair of skis and have been looking into the Legend Pro and Inspired by Nobis/Super Nobis. I am having trouble finding out correct information (I've been searching these and other forums).

I've read that the 2003/04 Inspired by Nobis (186/194cm) is the same as the Legend Pro except that the Nobis is 90mm underfoot vs 97 on the Pro.

I've also read that the 194cm Nobis ski is known as the "Super Nobis" and is the same as the Legend Pro while the 186cm Nobis ski is the Legend 8800. I'm more interested in the 186 as 194 is a bit too long for resort skiing for me. Can someone clear up the different models of the Nobis model for me? Thanks!

You've pretty much got it. The 186 LP with a 97-mm waist really seems like the way to go for an all-around charger...

Seldon and PhUnk over at TGR have been on them all season and have lots of beta...

I just noticed the 194cm LP has a 90mm the waist (the same dimensions as the 194cm Nobis) while the 186 has the 97mm, strange.

I'll head over to TGR, didn't realize they had a forum there.

Still not sure if I can handle the LP 186 as a resort ski, I ski around Banff/Lake Louise and while we do get big snow days, often it is hardpack and skiied out, the ski might be a bit burly. Currently I have a 177cm XX which I find turns into a noodle at high speed in variable conditions as I really get kicked around (I am 5'10 180lbs). Sunshine used to have a Dynastar demo centre but it has been replaced by Salomon for some reason.

the inspired by nobis is similar to the 8800(different layup/materials in the new legend series)
the nobis pro was 90mm underfoot as was the first production run of 194/186 legend pros. you still may find some 90mm 194s in stores but most 186 will be 97. the newest/latest run of LPs with the metal tip/tail detail seem to all be 97mm underfoot(could be wrong as with any thing built in the race room change is good)
this question is running on about 4 forums right now, someone must be having a sale?

Thanks waxman, I posted this over on biglines as well but there is more gear talk activity here. That makes sense now, about the different width Pro's. There were a bunch of Nobis skis selling on ebay for like $300 USD still in plastic which is why I was asking, but they all seem to be gone now. I will look into the 8800 if it is the same ski as the inspired by nobis which I have skiied before. Too bad sunshine switched out their demos to stupid salomon.

Speaking of those Inspired's on ebay, I bought one of those pairs - got a pair of 158's for my wife as new backcountry skis. That's one really sweet setup for her. The short length makes up for the fact that it's a fairly heavy ski for backcountry. She's only been on them three times so far, but she loves 'em.

I've got a pair (188) from last year and I think it's a really good ski for most conditions. It's not that great on groomers when compared to some of the dedicated carving-type skis but it does okay. Where is really shines is in anything untracked or junky.
