looking for new skis

Thread Starter
I am looking for pair of new skis. I am going to be guiding heli trips in UT. I am currently on a pair of K2 TRC's, but the operation is urging me to get something new. Any recommendations?

Thanks in advance

I think what you are saying is a little on the odd side of things, but here it goes. I would go for some pocket rockets, volkl gotamas, k2 kahunas, and dynastar bigs. Hope this helps, and I hope you know what you are doing guiding people in UT!

Jonny,
If I were you, I'd make sure I had a good sponsorship deal with a ski manufacturer, and then get them to give you a load of their skis.

It's a little like saying "I'm going to be racing in the Tour de France, and I need to buy a new bike...." Or "I'm going to be a photographer for National Geographic, and I need advice on buying a good camera."

But, welcome to EpicSki regardless, Jonny. Good luck in your quest. Have you bought the helicopter yet? I recommend one of those ones with the pinwheel-like things that spin around on top.

Best regards,
Bob

A heli guide who's favorite terrain is the groomers and skis a million days a year (I'm confused too?) on 20 year old intermediate rec slaloms. Hmmmmm... What's that smell?

I love it. He posts here as Jonny Moseley after saying on powdermag.com,under the name of CUMerritt, that he will be making the post. Then he replies to his own post as cumerritt. Isn't there a rule here about having more than one user name?

BTW: Wasn't that a "cute" choice of name.
Johny Mosely- 1998 Olympic Gold Medalist in the Winter Olympics in Nagano (Japan)- Link to an article with mention of Johny Moseley-all other links inactive-best I could do.
In ski flick "Area 51, a great ski movie
Comment: Area 51 is a great new movie from Teton Gravity Research. I has all the great skiers in it, from Shane Mconkey and Johny Moseley to Vinnie Dorion and Mike Douglas. I has a ton of great footage from all the competitions. It also has a huge vatiety of skiing from big mountain to jibbing. All and all its a great movie."

Jonny Moseley! Why aren't you in Portland, Oregon?

I was at the Ski Expo in Portland last night and I could have sworn I saw Glenn Plake there. His head was shaved and he had about 8 or 9 ant tattoos on the side of his head. He pretty much wondered around anywhere he wanted to.
Plake's got tatts of ME on his head? eewwww.

Mosely (the real one) should've got gold at the SLC lympics too. He wuz robbed. His run was more exciting than anything the medalists did, and the dinner roll was the bomb!

Short Chain!!! ....Wasn't it!
strange that, he boasts on powder about how long it took for epic to catch on, yet all I see is two posts from him under different aliases followed by a sarcastic one by me.
Maybe he's never heard of sarcasm.
Every post on this thread is full of sarcasm and accusing him of being an idiot. From the looks of it, we got it right. Just another child wanna-be from over there. I noticed in his profile he had the typical "wanna-be Scott Schmidt" look. Yellow and black North Face type coat and a gaper pack on his back in case he's lost for minutes skiing lift serviced terrain in bounds. Nice.

Alright guys time to sac up. Lets see your ski pics. If your gonna lay down the smack its only fair you back it up with pics.

I think it is time to drop it. What do you have to gain by screwing around here? Why not play nice and make friends? :

You can leave Saddlebackattack off this list. He is not the same person as the others. He is:

Saddlebackattack aka
MittersillManiac aka
Alistair Means (real name)
aka cainamllisrettim on other forums and who knows what other names he uses or has used.

He is not really like the people from Powdemag.com.
He is full of s$*%, and does fabricate a lot, the sad part is, he actually believes himself.

MM, SB or whatever you want to call him really does ski only on straight skis. I actually skied with him a year ago. He is not a bad skier, but not as great as he wants people to believe. I have not known him to be a ski patroller as he claims in his profile, nor a ski instructor, but who knows, maybe he took a course. I really don't think that MM/SB does what he does to get on people's nerved or to be cruel in any way. I really believe that he just can't help himself.

Wait … I thought it was MittersillAttack and SaddlebackManiac … or no … maybe it was MittersillByMorning, SaddleBackTakeWarning. In any case, all this adolescent horsing around with aliases is d@mn silly ... Un-resolved parental separation issues, if you ask me .

Not sure how I got tied up in this. I just thought it would be cool to see some skiing pics and spread the stoke?? I guess I was under the impression that this was a rather open and accepting place for skiers to exchange info. Was I mistaken??
Hey guys, wow, I really didn't mean to create such a hullabaloo. It was a practical joke and everyone caught on pretty quick but took it way to much to heart. I am not any of the other posters. Sorry to get everyone's panties in a twist, I was just kidding.

cumerritt: I knew you were retarded back when the two ski thread was going on... this just confirms it! Get a life bro... Are you even from Boulder, or do you lie about that too, so you can be "cool" cuz yer from someplace out west? Wait... can you even ski? Hey, maybe he is a snowboarder (aka: Gay-on-a-Tray) - this would explain a lot. Anyways buddy, stop leaving posts like this around. Youre not going to be welcome here until you stop wasting time with non sense such as the above thread. This forum has been free of people like yourself for a long time, and we would all like to keep it that way. Try to keep it friendly, honest, and informative... and don't piss off too many EpicSki people - there are a lot of us now - you could have a lot of skiers mad at you - and the ski world is a small one. (No offense to any good/talented snowboarders out there who do not carry the stigma that is attached to most lovely, kind, law-abiding, pleasant, and upstanding adolescent snowboarders... please ignore all descriptive terms other than adolescent).

Can anyone else smell a Darwin Award coming on? "This just in from UT Backcountry. An aparently rich, but extremely stupid man was found buried under an estimated 65,000 acre avalanche. Strapped to his feet were the remainder of Backyard Buddies (Registered) elementary child's snow skis. His helicopter was found on the summit above, although how the man managed to get the helicopter up there with his limited mental capacitity is quite beyond investigators. More news to follow."

I think someone (with multiple personalities) needs some counseling.
