As the headline says: Castle has been washed out on the lower slopes (9 cm of rain according to the website). The rain went all the way to the top so you have the familiar combo of grass low, rotten snow mid, and extreme avalanche danger high. They are shut until further notice.
One of my workmates figures he'll have to go down to the condo they rented for the season and pick up his stuff so they can start skiing where the snow is. He's also out of pocket for seasons tickets and ski school for his kids.
The reports on KH have been mixed. Some people are happy with the snow up high, others have complained about the quality. Spring conditions on the lower slopes. There is no question that they do have snow, which is better than a lot of places.
Louise and Sunshine are pretty good. Marmot is supposed to be doing extremely well, but the North part of the Banff-Jasper highway is still shut after a week, so how to get there may be a problem.
