Heading to Tahoe

My wife and I are thinking about sking down in Tahoe. Our hill in Fernie BC is getting rained out!!!! We would have about 12 days to ski. We are both expert skiers and would welcome any thoughts on where to ski once we are down there. Also any cheap tickets to be found would be nice as well. Thanks

My daughter and I recently returned from a trip to Tahoe. We both loved the area.

I'm only an intermediate so I can't comment on which resorts would have the best terrain for you. We went to Heavenly, Sierra and Northstar. The heavy snowfall during the time we were there was more of a deciding factor in our resort choices. The first few days we couldn't venture too much further out of South Tahoe. With as much time as you have I'd hit a bunch and then concentrate on my favorites for the last few days.

Go to the website "slidingonthecheap.com" they list all the available deals for discounted lift tickets and where to get them.

If you haven't found lodging yet take a look at vrbo.com. We booked a really nice apartment unit above the owner's house. Even though we ate out most of the time it was still nice to have a kitchen for breakfast and snacking, a dryer to dry out gear at the end of the day, and our own hot tub.

P.S. Try out the Thai restaurant on the west end of town on Hwy. 50. Don't remember the name but it had Orchid in it I think.

cheap tahoe tickets

Check out http://www.snowbomb.com. Have fun. Hope some fresh snow comes for you. There is plenty of base but surface is a bit crusty and icy in places.

if you are an expert, do **NOT** miss skiing Squaw Valley on a visit to Tahoe

next stop would be Heavenly, because of the beauty of the resort and scenery. Motts Canyon has great steeps and trees

next stop would be Kirkwood (expert terrain, tons of fresh snow) and last would be Sugarbowl, a classic Tahoe resort with nice backcountry as well as frontside...the Deslauriers brothers (extreme skiers) host their training camps at Sugarbowl
