Two Weeks at WhistlerI have just got back from two weeks at Whistler.
What I read from some of these posts is that a lot of you folks are spoilt! Okay there was no snow at the bottom of the mountain but I still managed to ski down to the Marriot on most days.
Coming from Australia I thought the snow on top of both mountains was fine, (icy in the morning when there was no snow) just did not like it when I could not see, but then I went lower where the vis was better. I did ski esprit the first week (thanks Phil) then a half price lesson on the Friday (thanks Andrew) whilst my son was in the ride tribe. The food on top of the mountain was half price and it was not that crowded.
Okay the home trails in the afternoon were crowded and very, very slushy and I would not wanted to have attempted them as a beginner. The runs also got very cut up in the afternoon but you either learnt to ski moguls or walked! I remember going into the saddle at about 2pm one day and it was just ice for the first 30m!
There was a bit of snow just before we left and then a crystal clear morning on top of Harmony looking over to the tusk. Just incredibly beautiful and worth the trip just to experience that view and breath the air.
The village was great and the food was good value (though the beer was expensive).
So I had a great time and met some great people. I cannot imagine what it would be like if the whole mountain was open!
