We are in the 15-20inch range - here's hoping for more!

At least somebody is skiing powder. :-(

It's dumpin in Troy - NY. Finally get to use my Magic pass. Early morning tomorrow!
Snowing in troy-let's get over to grafton and do some snow biking in spruce bog!

Western Mass and Southern VT should see 14-20...not too shabby. Anyone skiing tomorrow, I might shoot up to Mount Snow-but the high winds forecasted (gusts up to 40mph) might mean lift closure...so I'll probably play hooky on Monday!

I'm playing "hooky" from school on Friday with 32 students...we are taking a BUS to Mt. Snow...the school committee gave us permission to do it during the week so we could save the kids some money. This snow, and the much lighter snow forcasted for Wednesday should make for some GREAT conditions! I have to spend 45 minutes in the lodge, and the rest of the time is MINE to ski where I want and with whom ever I choose to.

I'm going to Berkshire East, no lift closures there.
Liam,

While we're there we can rope a goat!

Jiminy tomorrow.
I hope the snow heads more north otherwise the only good snow will be in Mass and Southern sections of VT and NH.

Alot of snow in CT doesn't help anyone.

Based on the radar maps I can't see places like Killington getting 18 inches.

I hope all the mountains get snow but it seems all the storms this year have been coastal and southern.

Good luck skiing tomorrow with the winds, temps, and visibility.

I think Monday is the day where it will be sweet.

Actually, the kids don't have school. It is a "transition day" between the first and second semester, for high school (9-12) teachers to perpare for the 2nd semester of NEW classes. In 8th grade my classes do not change. I would have had the day to calculate grades, plan lessons and attend a computer training (an intro to website design). It does not take me a school day to calculate grades, I do it at home every other term of the year. My plans, though not set in concrete, are outlined for the month of February. I also think I can do without and intro to website design course.

I had to provide the SC with evidence of my computer knowledge and go over my 2nd semester course syllabus with the principal before I was approved to go, as did the other teachers (also 8th grade teachers).

I MADE it SOUND way better than it was...

No, I understand. I didn't mean to sound glib. You certainly earned this and I hope you have much slope fun. I have endless respect for middle and high school teachers.

I might tell work that my car is buried and go to Mt Snow tomorrow.

hmmmmmmmmmmmm
I still have the cold I caught skiing Friday in the frigid temps, and with the roads as they are am staying home after all

So it does look like another day off work tomorrow! Scalce, Berkshire East is only $25 weekdays if you don't have a pass for Mt. Snow, maybe we could finally meet. It's a lot steeper than Mt. Snow I'll tell you that, and less crowded.

As to work, well it's my business and if I can't take off on a snow day, than why go through the ups and downs of owning a company after all? So what if the business continues to slide - at least I'll be skiing!!!! :

What is the vert at Bershire East? Are they shielded fromn the wind?

Do they have bump runs and trees?

It's about 1,200 ft. It's not that exposed a mountain that it gets that windy, but I wouldn't say it's "shielded." I've never seen wind be a big problem there in the 4 years and about 60 days I've skied there.

There is tree skiing when there's snow, and there is snow now! They do let some of the runs bump up, again it depends on the snow. I'd say there will be a lot of bumps tomorrow as their website lists a lot of the trails as "Natural" meaning ungroomed, and there are a lot of advanced skiers who are regulars there who've just been waiting for those trails to open up, so they will all be pretty chopped up by tomorrow. There hasn't been enough snow until today to have any bump runs developed yet this season.

http://www.berkshireeast.com for info. We got about 20" here below Gardner and they probably got about the same or more.

By the way I've been meaning to point this out to you Scalce, your image at the bottom of all your posts is not an image, merely a link.

The trail map isn't very impressive, but bear in mind that even the blues are fairly challenging there. There's very little at Mt. Snow that is anywhere near as steep, the North Face is about all. Most of the trails are double fall line.

Here's a list of trails. http://www.berkshireeast.com/open.html

Or

You could always bo to Magic. Steeps, trees and 20".

I skied Killington today, 12-18 of fresh but it is amazing how fast such a huge mountain can get tracked so fast. Was fun anyway Just go into the woods

Anyone feel that this blizzard was overhyped? I do. The forecasters made it sound much more dire than it turned out.
