Well he also omitted Switzerland....

and 'on snow' is a sensible reply.

I would have gone to Switzerland in January - if the snow had been reasonable.

wbroun----That's just Gonz's way of telling you he likes you !

I'll be more direct---------Colorado

You also missed ski decks, I get on those once in awhile. They are portable so that could be anywhere.

Good answer, & he did ask.

I Ski on water.

Wow. I'm currently in the majority with Massachusetts! Living in Northeast CT, I hit Jiminy and Butternut quite a bit and to a lesser extent Berkshire East and Catamount as day trips.

I think that most people ski most frequently at areas near their home, so I suspect that this poll will reflect nothing more than the geographic distribution of EpicSki participants. An interesting modification to it might have been, "When not skiing at areas within a day's drive of your home, where do you ski?". This would hopefully better reflect the less pragmatic preferences of folks, and their use of serious quantities of discretionary money and time.

Tom / PM

PS - There is a long standing joke on Epic that absolutely no one has ever constructed a poll without some major flaw, and folks take great pleasure at being the first to shout, "FLAWED" at the mere announcement of a poll. Not that I'm going to do it, of course, heh, heh ....

Stuck in MI- I learned here and have done all my skiing here. I just relized all those trips to Vegas could have made for some GREAT ski vacations. But now that I finally have my priorities in order, we will be looking to go out west soon...

True--I know I voted for my home town. Actually there is a handful of place to ski in my state. The only other state I've been to is MD.

And the South Eastern end of the United States. Except, of course : , for West by God Virginia.

Do I have the honor of saying it first?

Flawed.

You need to do a second poll that would ask where everyone would *like* to ski the most.

Bob is right. I ski at Jiminy Peak a lot - too much. I'd like to ski where Bob Peters skis, a lot.

But here in the East - Mad River Glen is where it's at. Like the old days, before Vt was taken over!
Three guesses where I ski? Oh and yes most of us do want to ski where Bob skis. But then again do you have the skills to ski where Bob skis? I'm talking about the terrain not just the location. By the way how are thing up there Bob?
Unfortunately I ski a lot more in my mind than I do at any resort *sigh*

Utah,

I could, I think ski that mt with one exception - vertical. I don't know if I have the conditioning to bang out a bunch of runs.

I'd like to go to Silverton. The problem isn't skill, its conditioning. They put you in groups, so I'd try an easier group. Still could I sustain?

Please change my post from Canada other to Ontario. My mouse trigger finger is too quick.
I'd like to ski in Canada someday, Out West, everywhere,lol...Ok so why was I the only one voting for WV? I know there is at least one other WV in the barking bear forums! Hehe..it isn't the worst place to ski. I have fun! I am gonna go to Snowshoe for 2-3 days for my b-day in February. So glad I was a winter baby!

There's a time limit between when you can start a poll question thread and finish designing the actual poll. I moved fast, as I wasn't sure what that time limit was. So yes, I missed billions of places. If I could do it over I would take add Slovenia (home of Elan, I believe), China, Switzerland, Poland, Croatia, Bosnia and the Antipodes.

Ski Utah

The best skiing is Powder Mountain with slow lifts, but real skiers, (and boarders) and Snowbasin. I like skiing where I can ski the chutes, wide opens and big mountains with no people ! These two mountains can't be beat. Since the Olympic downhill and GS were at SnowBasin, that mountain has been remade and is outstanding. There are no lines! Lakeside village is the closest condo, Huntsville, so that is the drawback, no ski in ski out. But an 8 minute drive is OK
