A word about our SPONSOR

We'd like to publicly thank K2 Skis for their sponsorship of ESA. Since the very first one, K2 has donated a pair of skis to award to one of our lucky campers.

Image removed on Fox's (sage) advice.

Thanks to our resident ARTIST

Thanks to Jstraw for designing the award certificate for the skis.

BTW, this certificate entitles the bearer to any current model ski of his/her choice.

Nolo, maybe you should take that image down, or change it to say "specimen", just in case any dishonest people were on here and tried to forge a souple of signatures.

Thanks, Fox, your insights about the Dark Side are well heeded.

I'll make one that's watermarked "Specimen) and also has the K2 mailing address removed...

Here it is (the real thing is a lot higher resolution):

Thanks, Jstraw. It's a fine piece of work.

My pleasure.

that seal looks positively collegiate.

are we getting diplomas and a grad ceremony too?

how about the degrees of cum laude, for all those overachievers who have to prove their superiority?

I'll wager the only ESA certificate that is worth more than the paper it's printed on is this one from K2.

I like the collegiate touch that Jstraw has given the academy stuff. Notice the Barking Bear to the right of the elegant skier (guess who???).

"Collegiate" was what I was going for. I Googled and studied *many* actual college seals when I was working on the seal. I was very tempted to get "Coaching For Dedicated Skiers" translated into Latin and in my loonier moments I still think that's a cool idea.

Here's a better look at the seal:

Here's my favorite usage of it so far:

Wouldn't that pennant blazing across the chest of a t-shirt look cool? Maybe next year...

Here's a revision with the more current K2 logo:

DRUM ROLL!!!!! And the winners are....

Congrats to Rob Davis (Springhill Crazie) and Kevin Furrow (Kevin F) for winning the K2 skis at the ETU and the ESA, respectively!

Each of them has won a pair of K2 skis, in their choice of model and size.

Interestingly, Kevin didn't buy any raffle tickets at the ETU, claiming bad luck. He promised he would buy some at ESA, and look at what happened! Lightning has struck!

Congrats to both of you!

Ski them with utter fearlessness, guys.

Kevin you devil! You must have been in total disbelief when they pulled your name out! I remember how adamant you were about your "bad luck" at the ETU. You must remember me saying that I never win too...remember, I won Bindings at the ETU and was in total disbelief because I won something.

I just want to know, you didn't trade the skis for some socks? (lol)

CONGRATS and enjoy!

Yep, that would be accurate. I was sitting next to Lisamarie -- who has not hidden her desire to own a pair of Burnin Luv's -- and Nolo looked right at both of us when she was ready to announce the winner. I figured it had to be Lisamarie because as Ric mentioned above, I certainly don't win anything.

Yeah, Vailsnopro made me get up in front of the ESA banquet and describe just how ironic this was.

I have more then enough socks, thank you very much. However, I do subscribe to the theory that the necessary number of skis is "N+1", where "N" is the number you currently have. Apache Chief's or Apache Recon's? I'm leaning towards Recon's...

Yep, Big thanks to K2.
Hear any word on the magic helmets?

No word yet on the helmets. I am expecting a call this week.
