these skis are so much FUN, so FAST, so STABLE, so FORGIVING, so EASY, so crud RIPPIN', it's incredible!
" ROCKETS ON YOUR FEET ".....YEP, that kind of fun!
"JACKRABBITS" zippin all over the hill, make a zillion turns, then point them straight downhill and fly like the wind! (and I mean fly!) these skis are just as happy effortlessly "crawling" down the hill, while you teach junior, as they are flying down the hill, smokin' foolish challengers! almost amazingly fast! playfull, nimble, they have an edge that could shave freakin rock and the flex binding puts more ski edge down, it's something you can feel.
i got the 160's, easier to "fit" into and move around in tight terrain.... yet they still so stable at speed, a.k.a. straight down z hill. unlike some, they don't feel like a "shorter" ski, but infact "ski big". i moved my bindings middle/fore/aft, settled on aft as it put my weight closer to the stiff tail, making tight turns easiest while still keeping stablity. now that i'm teaching my son, it's soooooo easy to saunter downhill at his pace. as the tail loosens up, i may move them forward.
these jack rabbits are great jumpers! they " loft " you in a more neutral, stable position, without the " falling over backwards feeling ", (could be the length/railflex), and then they land soft. before, i didn't jump much at all. now, they've added another trick to my bag, i love it, jumping is big fun.
SOMA FIT BOOTS, abducted stance...toes slightly out, WORKS!!!! PERIOD!!!! it puts the strong part of you foot in control of the ski, a more natural, better balanced and stronger stance, more control that you can actually feel. here's two situations we all can understand and will demonstate the idea. suddenly skiing into wet snow from snow guns, and an unexpected divet/pothole, both make you lose balance, and give an "OMG!" feeling. with SOMA boots on, it's a none event, you don't feel it or get tossed forward or fall, never losing your balance. cool, huh? also, it's now effective to easily apply extra pressure to either ski tip.
all this talk of footbeds, shaveing soles, boot ramps, tweak this, tweak that, ..indicates peoples' desires of better, more effective control of the ski by the skier's foot. Soma does this, and more. you will have a much better "feel" and alot more control. leg wise, it's a more natural, " ah, the way it should be" kinda feel, like when walking or running.
lastly, i've distinctly noticed that i have less fatigue at days end when skiing this rig. could be the ski itself, the length, railflex, SOMA boots or all in combo. either way, they're a ton of F U N ! these things RIP!!!!
W H O O S H ! there i go !
