Dos and Donts brainstorming session - Page 2

My beard will be mighty burly when I hit JH in late Feb and I suspect that is all I will need, aside from some big mountain arcing turns

At Mad River it is easy to pick out anyone who is not a local, because they are in a panic and pale as a ghost after having seen the terrain when riding up the single.

The list people have made are obviously funny and hit home in many ways. My daughter who is now 9 is really starting to love skiing and get stronger. She does any and all of the things mentioned on the list on a daily basis. This is really one of the joys of being a parent, teaching your child not to be a gaper.

Great topic!
The more so because I wrote an article on it a couple years back.
It´s nice to see the things are international and fully transferrable over the ocean.

One more thing. Unless you are Billy Kidd or ski like him, Do Not I repeat. Do Not wear a Cowboy hat while skiing!

I can see the tear welling up in your eyes and I hear the lump in your throat.

No one mentioned the bra tree (a.k.a. the thong tree):

Local: pretty much knows who makes the donations.
Visitor: Would like to find out.

Oklahoma Handbag:

Carry skis with poles as the handle and a boot stuck on each end of the skis. Although you can't deny the practicality of it all.

When skiing in CO, the telltale signs of a vacationer are:

A Kansas City Chiefs stocking cap with a yellow fringe ball on top

Any article of clothing with Cornhuskers logos

Kansas Jayhawks or K-State Wildcats - same issue

Oh, Iowa Hawkeyes also. However, Iowa State stuff is cool - that's where I went to school

"Sticks" held perfectly stationary and vertical with arms extended at 45 degrees out from body while making cautious wedge turns on a green run.

Skiing in only a sweater on a cold day (probably from Minnesota)

Wearing nothing on your head (kinda reflects the value the owner places on it)

Yelling something to your buddy who is at the other end of the lift line

Skiing not all that fast, but definitely out of control on green runs

Everyone in the family has the same model ski - with their first name scribbled on a piece of tape applied to the top.

Your name is written on the back of your boots

You can't imagine why anyone would ski at Mary Jane when Winter Park is so much bigger and nicer

A-Basin can't be very much fun - it's so small

You take your skis/board inside or lean them against the building right next to the entrance

You pay $75 for lunch for your family of 4 and pretend it's fine

You have a beer or two with lunch

Your wife is constantly contacting you on the walkie-talkie

You never skied with your kids when they were little.... now they never ski with you

You pay to park

You repeatedy and futiley try to get up using your "sticks"

You talk about those Rossi "Cuts" as if they're a pretty good ski

AM.

I've seen this a few times (thanks for reminding me PinHed).

DO---Put your skis in the cars ski rack.
Don't ----Put your skis in the cars rack with the boots attached.
