Atomic Metron:b5, upon further review - Page 8

I've been doing some race training on my b5's. The bindings are currently set to the forward position. Am I right in saying then that this is the best position for slalom gates, ie the hardpack setting?

Only you can tell that for you. You could always try one run forward, one run center and compare your times... Empirical evidence!

I went to a 'snowHeads' ski test at one of the indoor 'real snow' slopes in the UK yesterday with the sole purpose of trying the Hot Rods & comparing them to my b5's.

Unfortunately the Nordica rep turned up but his skis didn't - apparently they were delivered elsewhere by UPS! Also no new Volkls either as I also fancied testing the AC3 & AC4's.

Anyway, both Rockyrobin (whose M11's are currently on order after extensive trials) & myself tried about everything else 'non Nordica' & after a few hours I realised that I hadn't been on anything that came remotely to my b5's. Rockyrobin (whose way lighter than me) also came to the same conclusion re everything he tried v his soon to arrive M11's.

One ski that a number of people liked was the K2 Apache Recon. I tried it a while back before I got my b5's & thought it pretty damp but nevertheless I thought I'd give them another whirl. Well compared to the b5 I think I was wrong in my initial assessment as I now think that 'lifeless' would be a better description in comparison.

Should hopefully be able to try the Nordica's in Les Deux Alps in October.

Argh! Spydee, that stinks! I was so looking forward to reading a back-to-back review of the Hot Rods to the b5s. I'm planning it for demo days this year out here, but that's still a while in the future...
