Salomon 420?

Hello everyone,

I got a second set of skis for christmas this year from the girlfriend/family. I already had an all mountain ski, so what I wanted was a twin tip.

I mounted the bindings on them today, and just right now it struck right me. It's a Salomon 420. Same exact graphics as the silver 1080 (2004 model), except where it is suppose to say "teneighty" it says 420, and both graphics are facing one direction. Plus the bottom is black instead of yellow with salomon written. Other than that they seem exactly the same.

There were purchased from SportMart, so it's too late to return since they were drilled.

Anyone know anything about these?

an even lower model than the 720s?

As it is the 720 has no reason to exist. Its a more beginner oriented 1080- but if you are a beginner why on earth do you need a twin?

420 dosent make sense. 1080 and 720 are both degrees of roation in tricks. Wouldnt the next step down be a 540 ???

I don't think it's a lower model, because the retail price on the ski is exactly the same as the regular 1080.

Overall it seems exactly the same ski, with a different bottom and graphic orientation. Odd thing is no one knows anything or heard anything.

anyone who says "420" doesn't make sense isn't doing much contemplating on the significance of that number

Im assuming that salomon is not a stoner company :P

maybe not, but it knows what its potential customers are up to when they're not spinning mistys or lincoln loops

The drug high holiday from google?

Great... Odd thing is I can't find anything ANYWHERE about this ski. No one has heard of it, no one knows what it is, which is odd since it's almost exactly a regular 1080.

It is a Teneighty. With a little in-joke in the topsheet. I have only seen a photo but couldn't tell if it was photoshopped. Have yet to confirm its existence firsthand.
