Dynastar? the most gimmicy ever? maybe in the past...but not recently.
As one of the only companies to have no system on any of their skis, I'll stand up and disagree.
IF you want to split hairs and count the plate on some models that accepts only a pivot binding then at least their system is time tested, solid and simple. Not many people will try to argue against the pivots design.
People can feel the difference between a cap and a sandwich construction, Autodrive combines the best of both worlds and I've yet to have a problem with edge grip etc.
new gimmicks? Atomic's top sheet perhaps? K2's piezo-electric damping system was a huge gimmic not because it didn't work (head seems to do well with the same tech) but because of how they marketed it. k2'sskis had big flashing lights on them in the shops, they were selling a silly feature and not a ski. (go ahead and call me out about Bode winning races on factory-second K2 4's... but he didn't plunk down full price because of the lights/stickers/display)
If anything I think dynastar has things headin in the right direction. Their main skis: Omecarves for pure short radius carving, Ski-cross for longer radius carving/ ski cross and Legend for all mountain. Exclusive for the ladies.
